       Steak & Kidney Pie

       Steak & Kidney Pie
       1lb Braising Steak
       1/2lb Lambs Kidneys
       1 pint of Black Sheep Ale (or any decent bitter)
       1/2lb Chestnut Mushrooms
       2 decent sized onions
       Approximately 1/2lb puff pastry
       Salt & Pepper
       Cup of Plain Flour
       Dash of Gravy Browning
       Dash of Worcestershire Sauce
       Take a large saucepan
       Fry the onions and mushrooms in a little oil until the onions
       just start to turn brown. Turn them into a bowl and put to one
       side.
       Brown the kidneys in the saucepan then put to one side with the
       onions and mushrooms.
       Season the flour on a plate with the salt & pepper. Flour the
       steak (cut into inch cubes), and brown the meat in the saucepan.
       Return the onions, mushrooms, and kidneys to the saucepan and
       remove from the heat.
       Add the ale, gravy browning, and worcestershire sauce. Return to
       the heat and allow to simmer gently until the gravy thickens.
       Preheat the oven to 180c.
       Roll out the puff pastry to desired thickness. Pour steak and
       kidney mixture with gravy into a pie dish, then top with pastry.
       Brush with a little milk or egg, and cook in the centre of the
       oven half an hour, or until the pastry has risen and turned
       golden.
       Once completed you will have a very tasty pie.
