Very good response Kerry considering the provocation within
mine.
I guess that few can see prejudice in their own PoV (or am I
just looking at me?)
Maybe the most 'religious' man is the one with no firm religion.
I wish that I could sit face to face with you (at least I think
I do ;)).
[/quote]I think we'd get along just fine, Mike.
The ability of people to fool themselves seems to have no limits
at times. I was shocked, yes shocked, when not too long ago a
member of the clergy said that the commandment to love your
neighbor as yourself had been done away with by Jesus. His text
for this statement?
John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one
another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
In other words, he was saying this "new commandment" meant he
was to love the people in his little circle of associates, in
his denomination, the people who kowtowed to his authority. I
guess others could be despised as heretics. He was free to
despise his neighbor.
I could never sit down with this man and feel comfortable with
him. He had "way too much religion". He seemed to be missing
the central concept of both Judaism and Christianity which is
Love and was busy trying to turn things upside down.
Naturally I resisted his topsy-turvy teaching and gave him a
mini-lecture on how God does not change and that the Law of Love
was the only Eternal Law there was, and he was missing it. I
may have made him grind his teeth.
