What do you make of this?

Read it through carefully and thoughtfully, following as many
links as possible, and then tell me what you think.
I've only just stumbled upon it.

Did you see the page about Herbert W. Armstrong?
HTML http://reluctant-messenger.com/HWA/index.htm
Once Mr. Armstrong discovered his wife was right and he was
wrong, his life was never the same. He went on and later founded
a church called the Radio Church of God which taught the 7th day
Sabbath and the New Testament meaning of the Holy Days of God.
Later the name was changed to the Worldwide Church of God. He
also founded the Ambassador College which trained ministers for
what he called, "The Work!"
For over 50 years he published a magazine called the Plain
Truth, which was offered free to the public. Mr. Armstrong died
in 1986. Today there are many churches that continue in the
spirit and tradition of Mr. Armstrong.
I guess this is one of the "many churches" that bases some of
their beliefs on Armstrong's teachings.

In my childhood church of the 1950's many of the elderly women
received and promoted Armstrong's 'Plain Truth' magazine, and as
I read through more of 'The Reluctant Messenger' the fact that
it was WWCoG based became evident and I said so in the parallel
thread in my own forum.
The worst thing about HWA was his proclamation of himself as
God's latter day Prophet/Apostle and his 'Mother of Harlots'
rantings against all non Sabbatarian denominations.
To masquerade as an angel of light is par for the course and
that is why so much of what he preached appeared quite
inspirational.

How many times did Armstrong predict the rapture? Wikipedia
HTML http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dates_predicted_for_apocalyptic_events<br
/>says four.
Ted, the heir apparent, also may have helped wreck the
reputation of the church with all that womanizing. And then the
nasty charge by Herbert's daughter that her father had molested
her. Was that real or was it a scheme to blacken Herbert's
reputation?
