       The wolves at your door

       ---------------------------------------------------------
I found the parable finally, here it is.
There was a King who had many flocks in many lands and was
exceedingly great in wisdom and riches and mercy. He hired a
sheppard from a local town for one of the herds of sheep and
left for other lands to tend other herds. Now this sheppard was
very strong and adept with his staff and quickly fought off the
many wolves that attempted to steal his sheep. The biggest wolf
did not flee, but fought with a great savageness with the
sheppard but the sheppard used his staff to knock the wolf
senseless and then he strangled the wolf killing it. The rest of
the wolves despaired of the sheppard and they complained to the
Lord of the wolves and asked what to do. The Old Lord of the
wolves went down to see the sheppard but walked on two legs and
called him from a distance saying "Sheppard! I am not here to
steal from your flock or fight you...please dont hurt me...I
just want to speak with you." The sheppard, not trusting the
wolf, told the wolf to stay and speak from the same distance
away, glancing around for a trap from other wolves while the one
       spoke.
The old wolf leaned up against a tree and began to speak.."I
know your master well and he understands the laws of nature
sinse he made them. He created the predators to feed on the weak
and sickly which makes the herd stronger and keeps from
overpopulation of the herd which can cause massive starvation
and much grief for many. Has he
never spoke with you about this?" The sheppard thought about it
       and admitted that the
master had spoke about this when he was young when the master
would come to the villages and speak with the children. The wolf
grinned and said "You see, although the master may have told you
to tend the sheep, he also said in the past that predators have
a great purpose in the circle of life. Can you not see that the
wolves are only playing the part that the master wants it too.
If we promise to only take the weak and sickly, your herd will
grow stronger and your master will be well pleased." The
sheppard thought about it and wanting to please the master
decided the wolf may well be correct and agreed with the old
wolf. He told the wolf that if they take anyone but the sick and
weak, he would attack them and the wolf agreed that he should
and that made the sheppard feel better.
Then later the wolves began attacking the sheep and only took
the sickly and the weak, but he was saddened to see the deaths
of his sheep and the pain they felt before they died, and it was
especially hard to see the weaker young lambs succumb to the
wolfs savage teeth when they couldnt help being born weak. But
the sheppard remembered his promise and wanting to please the
Lord with a stronger herd, let the wolves feed on his flock as
long as they only took the weak and the sick. The master
       eventually came back, and ...
(now you end the story...tell me what you think the master would
       say and why).
