You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby

       I just heard William Powell singing this on an old radio show;
but here's Bing Crosby's version. I always get a kick out of
       this song.

That is true of me because I have turned out one ugly lump, I
can only believe I once was cute in the far distant past.

^ True of me, too, James. I have photos to prove it. I
remember seeing the photos of me as a baby when I was about six.
I couldn't believe it was me. I was so cute. Then I turned
       gawky and stayed that way.
Talk about the good old days. I still have a "dress" I used to
wear as a baby too. When I asked my Mother about this, she
told me all babies wore dresses then since it made changing
diapers easier. She had made it herself too and embroidered
it. I don't know when she found the time. My parents bought
a piece of land from my Grandfather after my youngest sister was
born; and they were building the house I was born in when my
Mother was pregnant. My guess is she did the sewing and
embroidery at night in the other house before they moved; but
maybe she did it after the house they were building was
       finished.

Sounds as if your mother was like the description of the woman
of Proverbs who is far above rubies.

[/quote]Things she told me still come to mind and inspire me.
Just the other day, I saw something that made me remember my
Mother sewing and embroidering that dress, and it inspired me to
lend money to a woman from Tajikistan at Kiva who needed money
to buy cloth and supplies so she could sew things to sell. Many
people at Kiva want to buy things and sell them; and that's
good, and sometimes I lend to them. But I liked this woman who
wanted to buy things and then make them more valuable by adding
her own work. It reminded me of my Mother, and that's why I
picked her to lend to. I felt a surge of admiration for this
woman whom I'd never met. I also felt blessed to be able to
lend it to her. She also wanted some of the money to buy a
computer since she also is a teacher.

       I admire people like her.
