Do You Remember The Day?
By: Runner Date: March 1, 2013, 12:30 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Of interest I wondered how many of you remember the day that you
first became aware that God Was ?
Not talking about the day of salvation, conversion, born again,
or whatever...but speaking of the moment you first "knew that He
was" ...there.
Maybe I always knew, but I remember being aware that I knew at
four years old.
I don't remember being told anything, my father wasn't
born-again until I was seven, and my mother much later...I just
was aware of His presence and that He was.
Not until age 22 did I come to the place of wanting Him in my
life as a constant friend and companion, and knowing that life
without Him would be a living hell of never knowing the end of
my story...and very aware that I was lost without Him.
Anyone?

I remember the day clearly and I was a pre-schooler too... must
have been about 4 or 5 years old.
Believing was never a problem for me until much later in life.
And actually it wasn't so much believing that was a problem as
it was 'understanding' the beliefs.

I remember the day. It was when I first wrote a note to God and
put it on the windowsill. And when the wind blew the note out
the window, I thought God had taken the note and was reading it.
The note said something like, I love you God. I was probably
about 6 years old then. :)

Fun to hear other people's stories. I wonder if God 'let's
Himself' be known to all young children? Maybe it stays somewhat
dormante and unproductive through the young years until we are
ripe and ready for a deeper relationship with Him?
I also wonder how many children shut out that gentle nudge from
God, which lets them know "he is there".
I am just having a musing time.. :)

In one of the Nag Hammadi books is a line that reads something
like: A wise man will not hesitate to ask a child of a week old
about being with God.
Also, a pediatrician eye doctor has said: the reason a child
doesn't focus up close when they are babies is because they are
seeing into infinity. Awesome, eh?
I don't know that God '"let's Himself" be known as much as the
child does know God due to recently having been with God.

A good reply Nancy!
That reminded me of something my daughter sent me once...about
a little girl of about three years old telling her mother she
was frightened now because she was forgetting God and heaven.
I took it all with a pinch of salt...but, who knows :)

Next time you have the opportunity, ask a child who is one to
one and a half about God and see their countenance change. I
think it will convince you.

It may be the reason that children become clingy to their
parents around 3 and 4 years old?

I really don't. I remember being in church at a very young age
and going to Sunday School. I couldn't have been more than 3.
Its pretty sketchy.
I have been a believer all of my life, although I didn't really
start taking my faith serious until I was 20. Looking back?
Jesus was always there.

Oh, I do remember the day and the occasion. I was
6 years old when I was taken to the Roman Catholic place of
baptism in that old California mission church. As the priest was
speaking and I was devoutly intent on what was happening to me,
God was there. God was real. He still is. Glory to His
name!
