Judgment of those who do not recieve us
By: James Date: February 9, 2013, 1:40 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
And when ye come into an house, salute it. 13And if the house be
worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy,
let your peace return to you. 14And whosoever shall not receive
you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or
city, shake off the dust of your feet.

Since if one is rejected why the need to demonstrate ones own
rejection of the people who have not received you?
Is there a need to make sure no dust i.e. spiritual hardening of
the heart takes place by contamination with this unwelcoming
household?
On the face of it, it does seem a little harsh, it has little of
"forgive them for they know not what they do" about it.

I've wondered about that before, James.
I'm not so sure that to "shake the dust off your feet" means to
reject them if they reject you.
It could mean the opposite---like, "don't let it rub off on
you."

things that I learned today. :)

[/quote]Abraham wouldn't take a shoelatchet. If I take
something from someone, it is a bond of one kind or another. It
can tie me to him.
I think this can apply in other areas of our life too. Say a
boy and girl were dating and she decides to break up. As long
as he wants something from her, he's going to be tied to her.
If he can stop thinking about what he wants from her, he can get
over it. Being able to realize when things aren't going to work
the way we want and being able to let go of it mean we can move
on. When others say, "No," we can accept their decision, take
our losses and move on.
