For me personally as I ponder through my life...I would have to
say that the most encouragement I have had has been seeing and
observing the life and walk of a 'saint' that is close to the
Lord.
And no, I don't think this can be faked. One can tell when a
person has "been with the Lord", it shows. One who knows God can
recognize it upon a godly life.
Also, for me, one that wasn't on your list.
When I hear His voice, I am greatly encouraged.
:)

I thought about child-rearing. Telling a child when he's doing
things right seems important. When people do things right, I
think letting them know we see it and appreciate is good
encouragement.

I am encouraged by many things. I am the encouraged the most in
knowing that God loves us unconditionally. When I have
opportunity, I tell others that God loves them unconditionally
to encourage them. :)

More.
#6. ==> Seeing those youngsters as young as 9-11 growing into
leadership of one kind or another.
Watching the ''going on'' of those who have not been continuing
steadily & smoothly in fellowship etc. ''come back'' & continue
growing.

Examples.
1. A person's character & personality?
Paul know to have been a wrong'un have people love & want to
be with him & care for him
2. Maintenance of the processes that move us forward.?
Persevearence, not giving up under pressure but to press in
deeper. (Hard as this can be)
3. Correction which inspires reflextion & adjustment?
Not what is sometimes said to be 'said ''in love'' Maybe to
''put one on them''
4. Confirmation of our thoughts & understanding of the bible &
it'sapplicationto us.?
By others, the Word, the preach, the daily reading, even
correction can reset us on the right path.
5. Individuals testemonies.? 8) :) :D ;D
6. The Natural/Spiritual progress & changes of others.?
Seeing those youngsters as young as 9-11 growing into
leadership of one kind or another.
Watching the ''going on'' of those who have not been continuing
steadily & smoothly in fellowship etc. ''come back'' & continue
growing.
7. Answers to prayers.? :) :D
8. When I hear His voice, I am greatly encouraged. ( from Helen)
9. Telling someone when he's doing things right
10. Sharing that God loves us unconditionally
11. A thank you note to anybody.

I guess I don't rate testimonies of the happenings in someone
else's life as high as other people do. In my time I have read
so many books, heard so many tapes etc etc..
I find myself usually ending up by saying... " Wonderful Lord,
but now bring that a little closer to home." It always seems
to be somebody else's story! :)

That's true H, one hears stories of Gods provision to others be
it the tangible life needs or the divine word.
Someone once said it is those who lack faith that need the
constant encouragement, is that true, I don't know. I am loath
to say it is because it would mean that I by default must have
great faith since such wonderful Godly experiences do not come
my way.

Quote James..Someone once said it is those who lack faith that
need the constant encouragement, is that true, I don't know. I
am loath to say it is because it would mean that I by default
must have great faith since such wonderful Godly experiences do
not come my way.
So true...I can't say that "none" have come my way, but, they
are far and few between. I think we are probably in the norm.
I remember someone once saying that "we hear people say 'the
Lord said this, that or the other....but if ones goes to the OT
and looks at Abraham , Elijah etc etc...one does not read more
than three or four times that the Lord actually "spoke" to them.
Like you say, we probably need more encouragement and faith than
they did. :)
