       Legal Banned Ingredients
       By: guest6 Date: January 17, 2013, 11:38 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
FDA is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring
       that foods are safe, wholesome, sanitary and properly labeled;
human and veterinary drugs, and vaccines and other biological
products and medical devices intended for human use are safe and
effective. "For numerous suspicious and disturbing reasons, the
U.S. has allowed foods that are banned in many other developed
       countries into our food supply"....
This list of ingredients includes coloring agents (blue 1, blue
2, yellow 5, and yellow 6), Olestra (aka Olean), Brominated
vegetable oil (aka BVO), Potassium bromate (aka brominated
flour), Azodicarbonamide, BHA and BHT, Synthetic hormones (rBGH
       and rBST), Arsenic.

Yes, that lovely cloudiness in Mountain Dew that makes it look
like there's lots of juice in it is really brominated vegetable
oil. I used to drink it thinking it was fruit juice that made
       it look that way.
As for olestra? I wouldn't touch the stuff. Once you know how
it works, you know it could seriously interfere with the small
intestines' ability to absorb nutrients. Not to mention the
       unpleasant side affects.

I was wondering if brominated vegetable oil is also in Sprite
and it is. It's also in Gatorade that the doctor told me to
drink. Brominated vegetable oil is banned in over 100 nations,
but not the U.S. It is a very toxic food additive that is also
found in commercially manufactured and mass produced baked
products of all kinds including bread.
It can also cause heart beat malfunction which I have had
       problems with.

^ Sprite has it? Probably not as much as Mountain Dew.
Did you know that some bread also has some kind of antifreeze in
it? I think that may be some bromine product. It makes the
dough sweeter and smoother or something. Yuck! I've heard
that the "high fiber" in high fiber bread is really only
sawdust; so one day I checked the list of ingredients at the
store. I forget how it was listed, but it was some fancy word
for "wood." Cellulose? What I found strange is that it cost
more than regular bread. Of course, the sawdust may not be
       poisonous.
People buy stuff because it looks good. That article said
that's arsenic is allowed to be be in chicken feed because it
makes the chicken look better. That's crazy if you ask me.

According to some experts the effects of olestra increases
cancer, heart disease, stroke, and blindness. Olestra is found
in many snacks like chips, crackers and tortilla chips and all
snacks containing olestra must have a warning label.
When I was reading this list of banned ingredients, I was
thinking about how especially harmful they must be to children
       and pregnant women.

[/quote]You might be okay if you don't drink too much of it. I
don't know how many parts per million it has; but the legal
limit is 15 parts per million. The thing about bromine is that
it is so similar to iodine that it can interfere with how the
       thyroid operates.
Mountain Dew also has sodium benzoate -- not the best thing to
consume. Small quanties, who knows? It's said that it can
       cause Parkinson's and cirrhosis.

You could try something like green tea or coffee. Those are
supposed to be good for you. I like them without sugar myself.

the brominated vegetable oil in Gatorade. From L A Times
  HTML http://www.latimes.com/business/money/la-fi-mo-gatorade-flame-retardant-20130125,0,2176497.story:
Brominated vegetable oil, a synthetic chemical that has been
patented in Europe as a flame retardant, will no longer double
as an ingredient in Gatorade sports drinks.
Molly Carter, a spokeswoman for Gatorade owner PepsiCo Inc.,
said the company has been considering the move for more than a
year, working on a way to take out the ingredient without
affecting the flavor of the drink.
A recent petition on Change.org to drop the chemical – which has
more than 200,000 supporters – did not inspire the decision,
Carter said, though she acknowledged that consumer feedback was
       the main impetus.

Yes like mountain dew, lol. I have cut back a lot on the
mountain dew and been drinking more sweet tea and pepsi. Which
probably isn't much better; but at least they don't have the
brominated vegetable oil or yellow 5. I would imagine it will
change the taste if they do remove it so it wouldn't really
matter much because then I may not like it anyways. Still a good
thing if they remove it though! At least then the world isn't
drinking poison every day all day.
