My 12 week old kitten was sitting on my lap when I put the video
on- he sat up , looked as if he was really interested, then sat
down and closed his eyes, as if to say ' whatever....... !!! '
Guess he won't be doing the chores for me then, but he is a dab
hand at waking me up ! LOL

[/quote]Cats can be taught to do tricks if they understand you
want them to do something. When I was a kid, our mother cat
had kittens, and I taught one of the kittens to put her two
front paws on my toy car and push it across the floor. She
thought it was fun. Here's a video of a cat; but I doubt I
could get my cats to do work. They won't even clean their own
       litter boxes!

I had one cat who caught on fast to things. One day he was
acting strange and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. About
an hour later I noticed he was out of water. He came over all
excited. I said reached down and petted him and told him, "Next
time, tell me if you run out of water." He did too. He would
go over to the water bowl and meow if I ever let it go dry.
He did his own tricks too when I wasn't looking. He could open
the cabinet, pull over the plastic tub I kept the cat food in
and open it if the lid wasn't on tight.

I had no idea that cats could be taught such tricks. :)
I must say he looked in great shape, and I loved his colouring
       and markings.
       Beautiful cat.

They are teaching dogs how to drive cars in New Zealand.

Here's a You Tube video of a dog driving. I don't know if they
       faked it or not.

Two dogs in New Zealand passed the driving test!
A pair of highly trained canines guided a modified car along a
New Zealand race track Monday, passing their doggie driving
tests with flying collars on live television, despite the odd
       off-road detour.
In a heartwarming project aimed at increasing pet adoptions from
animal shelters, a group of cross-breed rescue dogs from
Auckland were taught to drive a car -- steering, pedals and all
-- to show the potential of unwanted canines.
Footage of the motorised mutts learning their skills has proved
an Internet sensation but their ultimate test came on Monday,
when the two best performers, Monty and Porter, were put through
       their paces on national television.

And a dog made the news in Russia.
A dog at a Russian zoo has adopted three tiger cubs after their
       mother deserted them.
The tiger cubs—two male and one female—were born on Nov. 14 at
Oktyabrsky Zoo in Sochi and soon abandoned by their mother,
Bagira, who had done the same thing with another litter earlier
       this year.
Zoo officials posted an ad online seeking a temporary tiger mom,
but a white Swiss shepherd named Tallim was chosen to fill the
       surrogate role.

That reminds me of something that happened when I was about
five. We had a chihuahua who had pups, and then they all were
given to other people. Then the mother cat had kittens and one
day they went missing. We looked for them but we didn't find
them until we heard them. The mother dog had taken them away
and was trying to feed them; and she had hidden them very well.

When I was looking on You Tube to see if they had the "Doorbell"
video, I found some other videos about doorbells.
