Matt 6.10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is
       in heaven.
Can "His will be done on earth" any other way then through His
       people?
       I personally don't think so.
Yet I know He could move and perform His will.
His people would first have to be sure that they "knew His
Will", before they could move perform it.

I think God can use and direct people in many ways, and not all
of them have come to know him yet.
If you think of all the times when we experience ' God
coincidences ', you know those moments when we just know that if
we had not been in a certain place, not met a certain person,
not heard a certain word ect ect. Often it is a whole string of
events where people of all kinds have had to follow their hearts
( or consciences ) and made certain decisions - surely this is
God imparting his will - bringing about things he desires to
happen. We need only look back to our own testimonies of how we
come to know the Lord, all the things that would have led us to
be in the right place at the right time. This does not mean that
free will is taken out of the equation, but that God can prompt
and a person can respond and even though they think it is their
decision, it was Gods all along.

I know this doesn't really fit here, but I can't see the point
of starting a new thread for it...(I have changed the subject
       line of the thread too.)
Build a little fence of trust
       Around today;
Fill the space with loving work
       And therein stay.
Look not through the sheltering bars
       Upon tomorrow;
God will help thee bear what comes
       Of joy or sorrow.

Not sure why , but I feel the first line is a bit odd. It makes
me think that it is about works and making a good job of making
a fence of trust. Could someone stand up and preach "what we
need is to build a fence of trust around ourselves". Don't we
trust the Lord and thereby we are completely open to anything
for in him we trust so nothing can harm us .
       Or am I reading this wrong? ? ? ?

James, I guess it is somewhat like "Keep yourselves in the love
       of God,
       ie...."stay trusting."
God's love is always 'there', are we always conscious of it..No.
It is a faith thing...I think maybe Mary Butts ( whoever she is)
was writing in this kind of thing in mind.
If we are in a bind, we can crumble, or we can take up the
shield as David did and say-
'In Him will I trust.' In him will I trust: He is my shield,
and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my
saviour;" ..."The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart
trusted in him, and I am helped"
When I posted it, that was the kind of fence I was thinking
       about. What sayest thou?

       True!
I was not thinking that way. I was afraid that it was talking
about a person having an area of their life that they either did
or did not let others into, a fence they lived inside of.
Yes, " trust in the Lord with all your might and lean not unto
your own understanding" so our trust in fact is a denial of our
self, our mind and way of seeing things, we put on the Lord
Jesus Christ. You can't trust in something that you don't
       believe in.

You quoted the verse with "in earth" but then in your comment
you changed it to "on earth". Why?
The prayer is asking for God's will to be done in this little
piece of "earth" that is me as it is done in the dwelling place
of God. (Can we not be the dwelling place of God?) What is
needed is what Jesus made possible. We need for there to be more
of "heaven" (or the ways of heaven) in us and less of "earth"
(or the ways of flesh) in us. As John the Baptist put it:
"He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30
The place of the increasing and of the decreasing needs to be
       within ourselves.
       --- Quote ---
       > I personally don't think so.
       > Yet I know He could move and perform His will.
       --- End Quote ---
God gave man the authority to obey or to disobey. How much of
God's chosen or perfect will is done on the face of the planet
is directly related to how men are using their God-given
       authority and their God-given gifts.
       --- Quote ---
       > His people would first have to be sure that they "knew His
Will", before they could move perform it.
       --- End Quote ---
And if His people do not know His will, whose fault is that? You
or I are very limited in what we can do for someone else, but
our limit in what we can do in and for ourselves to accomplish
God's purpose for us is only limited by ourselves. He has, I
believe, definitely provided all that is needed. If we fall
short it really is us that fall short. God does not fail. God
does not lose battles. If we are really always on His side, we
will never fail, and we will never lose a battle.

^ I looked it up. You could make a very good case that the
verse should read "on earth" and "in heaven."

The Greek words used are different. For some reason the KJV
translates both as "in." However the Greek word
επι usually means "on" or "upon." We used it in
words to mean something "above" something else, like "epidermis"
being the layer of skin "on" top of the dermis.

I never paid attention to the prepositions but I thought of it
as meaning God's will being done on the face of the earth.

Amen Kerry. In the last 24 hours I have become convinced 95%
that pre fall everything in "the Garden" was of the spirit
realm, not literal...I think it all became literal after the
fall. I also think the new earth will be of the spiritual realm
not literal. That is a big step for me, who could never have
seen it before. ( 48 years in the making)
