~ Today ~
By: Justaname Date: July 6, 2023, 8:08 am

I found these to be wise words for me, in todays world.
QUOTE -
“ Neither know we what to do; but our eyes are, upon thee (2
Chron. 20:12).
“ A life was lost in Israel because a pair of human hands were
laid unbidden upon the ark of God.
They were placed upon it with the best intent, to steady it when
trembling and shaking as the oxen drew it along the rough way;
but they touched God's work presumptuously, and they fell
paralyzed and lifeless. Much of the life of faith consists in
letting things alone.
If we wholly trust an interest to God, we must keep our hands
off it; and He will guard it for us better than we can help Him.
"Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself
because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who
bringeth wicked devices to pass."
Things may seem to be going all wrong, but He knows as well as
we; and He will arise in the right moment if we are really
trusting Him so fully as to let Him work in His own way and
time. There is nothing so masterly as inactivity in some things,
and there is nothing so hurtful as restless working, for God has
undertaken to work His own sovereign will.”
I looked this up, Helen, since I wanted to know more
about it. Very interesting. Judah was being attacked by Moab
and Ammon after God had forbidden Israel to attack them when
they came out of Egypt. How confusing this had to be. Why had
God told them not to take any land from those tribes only to
have trouble with them later? I would have been confused about
it. No wonder they were.
13 And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones,
their wives, and their children.
14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah,
the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of
Asaph, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the
congregation;
15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of
Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto
you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great
multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
The world seems to be getting more chaotic today. Sometimes I
wonder if I think that because I'm getting old and wonder if I'm
imagining things. Our politicians seem to be going crazy. Some
religious leaders seem to be. What lies ahead? I tell
myself God knows what He's doing. He's still on His Throne; and
while I may not be able to make sense of things I read in the
news, there's no need to think I have to go to battle myself.
Everything is working out according to God's plan even if I
don't understand all the details.
The point may be very important too. I see some Christians who
seem gripped by fear; and they do things I find dubious as they
are trying to "battle" on their own. Is this a trick of Satan
tempting Christians to get overwhelmed by fear and take action
when no action is needed -- action which might be wrong? I
have learned that when I start to fear something, I can often
make the situation worse by acting on that fear. It's better to
stay calm.
This seems very right to me:
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but
of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

I guess that just shows us how important listening to God for
direction really is.
One time He says ‘attack, drive them out’ another time it’s ‘
leave them alone ‘.
Most times we are told that David “Enquired of the Lord …”
before battles…..
‘ One size doesn’t fit all ‘…..
That's when someone tells someone else about what worked for
them in a situation …yet it doesn’t work for them.
One moment God is saying to Moses “ Be still and know that I
am God “…next moment He is saying to Moses …”Why are you crying
to Me , stretch out your rod and divide the waters ,..”
The only way that we can ever ‘get it right’ , is when we ask
direction and do it how He says for that day, moment , or
situation.
I think Jesus was saying this when He said - Don’t use vain
repetitive prayers “ ….listen and then you will know how and
what to pray.
Probably why many people say “ Prayers don’t work” . Well
they do when directed by God.

When praying for this darkness in the world right now…without
God , I wouldn’t have a clue how to pray effectively …
But James 5 tells us that - “the effective fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth MUCH! “
Once God tells us how and what …then we have confidence
….James 5 …” This is the confidence that we have in Him , if we
ask anything according to His will He hears us, and if we know
that He hears us we know that we have the petition thst we ask
of him “.
David couldnt wear someone else’s armour , neither can we….

I like reading of king Jehoshaphat….

Today I woke up feeling quite glum.
The nastiness of man , his rejection of God , and his worldly
doings , were all weighing on me . I couldn’t seem to be able
to shake it off.
I often mutter to the Lord “ When O Lord when is it Your
time ?”
Then this morning Dave played some worship songs and one of them
stated to warm my soul and I could feel the heaviness start
lifting .
It’s sung by Juanita Du Plessis …” Four Days Late “
So it comforts my heart once again , that God is not late at all
( which in reading Revelation we know anyway …the cup of Satans
evil within man, is not yet full )
Song
The news came to Jesus, please, come fast
Lazarus is sick and without Your help he will not last
Mary and Martha watched their brother die
They waited for Jesus, He did not come
And they wondered why
The deathwatch was over, buried four days
Somebody said, He'll soon be here, the Lord's on His way
Martha ran to Him and then she cried
Lord, if you had been here, You could have healed him
He'd still be alive
But You're four days late and all hope is gone
Lord, we don't understand why You've waited so long
But His way is God's way, not yours or mine
And isn't it great, when He's four days late
He's still on time
Jesus said, Martha, show me the grave
But she said, Lord, You don't understand
He's been there four days
The gravestone was rolled back, then Jesus cried
Lazarus come forth, then somebody said
He's alive, he's alive (he's alive)
(He's alive, he's alive)
You may be fighting a battle of fear
You've cried to the Lord, I need You now
But He has not appeared
Friend don't be discouraged
'Cause He's still the same
He'll soon be here, He'll roll back the stone
And He'll call out your name (call out your name)
When He's four days late and all hope is gone
Lord, we don't understand why You've waited so long
But His way is God's way, not yours or mine
And isn't it great, when He's four days late
He's still on time (He's still on time)

News can be depressing, Helen. I don't have a TV and don't want
one. Actually I think I might have one; but when the new
gadgets came out for the new broadcasting standard I didn't get
one. I wonder if the old TV is in the attic?
Here's an idea for people who watch the news or listen to it.
"Pray without ceasing," Paul said; so when you hear the first
bit of bad news, ask Jesus to take care of it; and keep doing
that with all the bad things you hear, "Let God's Will be done."
I think the world is crazy and needs our prayers desperately.
You can also pray for the protection of people when you hear
news they've done something good.
I just learned about a crazy development in my family with my
nephew and his daughter and granddaughter. There is nothing I
can do about it except pray. I don't even know what to ask for
specifically.

Agree , that is why the words re Jesus being too late , was such
a blessing to me.
I’d taken my eyes off of the Lord , and dwelling on the state of
our family members and of the world.
Just like the disciples …as they looked at the storm and waves ,
it created doubts and fear …and Jesus , asleep at the helm ,
seemingly uninterested and ‘ late to deliver them’ …yet He says
to them when He awakes , “Where is YOUR faith “
He is expecting us to keep and use faith in todays storm …He
will as usual be ‘right on time’ …even though we wish Him to DO.
something right now…….He won’t , not until the fullness of time.
Until then , we use the faith that we have , to pray into these
situations around us with authority ! Yay God! We are not the
underdogs …we do have His authority to bind the dark forces that
are causing such pain and distress….
Dave and I will pray with you , over your family , that God be
able to restore what is broken in lives. x

In this happening in the life of Jesus, the Lazarus thing, it
struck me that Jesus had many natural enemies, but they were
never a problem because He walked in the knowledge that he came
to do 'His Fathers will'
We know a time is coming when mens hearts will fail them for
fear, but what about us?
Everyone in faith, is having it very definitely tried in these
days, unfortunately faith has many enemies, in this story 3 pop
to mind,' natural reason,' then 'fear' and then one that we tend
to sweep under ones spiritual carpet, 'mistrust'

Natural reason will hamper the work of faith, we know that in
the natural men cannot move mountains or walk on water but faith
overrules and it has no regard for nature and it's laws.
So when Jesus says to Martha "Take away the stone" so what
kicks in, faith or reason, " Lord, by this time --------" She
had forgotten the -" Did I not tell you if you would believe you
would see (not in some futuristic time but in her
nasty now and now) the glory of God"
Scripture tells us, "Behold, I have given you authority to tread
upon serpents and scorpions, AND over ALL the power of the enemy
and nothing shall hurt you"
Unfortunately, if we let reason have it's perfect work, it will
leave faith dead like Lazarus'.
Fear.=A man penned, "Fear is the proof that man still longs to
defend his own ego and pities himself, "
( Selah)
It is a symptom of self love and stands in opposition to faith.
Fear weakens or destroys faith and deprives man of it's fruits"
Fear many times is a 'true' lack of knowledge,
We know that like Cain of old, fear crouches at the door of our
faith.
Mistrust.
"Mistrust will put us in the place to disbelieve what God has
promised us, trust has to be the foundation for effectual prayer
and is the anchor to not be double minded, and unstable in all
our ways, and not receive the hundredfold."
These are some modified thoughts given at a Sunday school.
And in the 'four days late', one can empathize with Martha and
ponder if one could have done any better.
Food for thought.

Hi Helen and Dave xxxxx
Just thought I would let you know that my daughter Sarah,
borrowed ‘ Love wins ‘ yesterday. She has been backslidden for
years but when Dan came to faith she brought a new Bible. This
was amidst her mental health and opioids addiction battles,
which you know led to her recent suicide attempt. Last week she
recommended a tv programme to me ‘ Manifest ‘ and it got us
talking about Romans 8:28 and The apostle Paul. As you know we
are endeavouring to move next door to her ( which is proving a
battle all by itself ) anyway she asked if me, Dan and her could
start a Bible study when we move , something I was not
expecting.
I have been praying for her for years, like Dan. The house move
has hit a brick wall at the moment but I desperately want to
believe it will happen. Now I realise that this is a spiritual
battle, the enemy is endeavouring to stop the move, stop us from
what that will lead to. God preserved her life as you know she
very nearly succeeded to end it.
Right now I am laid up with injuries ( damaged maniscus in my
knee and I pulled a muscle in my good leg while on shift on
Saturday ( think I was walking differently because of the knee
injury and it put pressure on my other leg ) I am in my own
battle because this affects my income and ability to do things.
However Dan is away at my other sons house ( dog sitting ) the
house is quiet and I have four days before I can attempt to go
back to work………..I need to use my quiet times wisely xxxxxx
Will you pray for all the above things and let’s see if that
book speaks to Sarah as it did Dan xxxxx
You are both part of their story now as you sent that book to me
for Dan after his Dad died xxxxxx

for some time, it’s something I have been praying about. Well
she message to say that she asked Mark if he would go to the
Prodigy concert in Brighton in November , as brother and sister
and not as adults with complicated lives- he agreed and is
looking forward to it………
One step at a time, God is good and in the timing xxxxxxxxxxx
