~ Passion~

I think it fair to say...something or someone always motivates
us.
Usually someone in authority and leadership who inspire and
instruct us…...parents, teachers, pastors, politicians,
authors, are people who stir us to action. They give us vision
and hope that causes a desire and passion within. We are also
motivated from the scriptures, from a book, or a friend’s word
of encouragement. Whatever or whoever quickens and feeds our
passion is what motivates us.
Paul says in Corinthians 5, “Wherefore we labor…that we may be
accepted of Him”. God’s approval was the motivation behind all
Paul did. Paul was not moved by the opinions of others, but by
the love of Christ. His eyes were always on the prize…...the
“high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
At times I can feel my passion and fire growing cooler...then I
know that it is time to "get quite" and let the holy Spirit blow
on the cooling embers.

One of the challenges we face as Believers is to remember that
though we ARE accepted in the Beloved, and don't have to earn
God’s approval because of the sacrifice of Christ, we must
always keep ourselves in the love of God and not presume that
because of our faith, we are free to live how we like.
Paul also said, “I discipline my body and bring it into
subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself
should become disqualified” 1 Corinthians 9:27.
We must be always watchful, so that we don't become influenced
by material success... or even by spiritual success, I've seen
that do much damage too!
What really lights our fire? God’s call for each of us is to
live with a passion .
Without vision and passion we become aimless...I do anyway.

Yes, without a "Vision", God's people will perish.
Without passion, we will become "lukewarm" to God and as a
result, He will spit us out. Glory to His name!

I think maybe the best way to find if a person or
oneself has passion, we must see what a person is willing to go
through for what they believe. Hebrews 12:2 says “looking
to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy
that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”.
Jesus showed us passion for the things of God, by what He was
willing to go through!
I must say mine is not always sustained....it ebbs and flows.
The devil tried to get Jesus to take a short cut and not go to
the cross “again, the devil takes Him up into an
exceeding high mountain, and shows Him all the kingdoms of the
world, and the glory of them.
The devil had got his authority from Adam.
We know that Paul had a passion for the things of God, by what
he suffered. Paul said “follow me as I follow
Christ”.
Ephesians 5:18 says “be not drunk with wine, wherein is
excess, but be filled with the Spirit”.
We know that naturally drunk people do crazy things....if we
stay filled with the Spirit then I am sure the passion would be
always there...drunk 'on Him' and ready for anything!
I guess the word is then "shame on us, when we sober up and lose
our passion in Christ!"

Passion can come from being in love.
It could be newts, it starts with a curiosity which is then
followed by a fascination for which is replaced by a love for
the little creatures.
Does the lose of passion signal a dulling down of our love, just
as the moon can eclipses the sun so what we are engaged in
slowly but definitely blocks out our Son.
The marvel of it is that so many have a full and busy life while
at the same time maintaining a strong love for the Lord.
That is a goal to seek after!!
James
