~ Through Storm~
By: Runner Date: October 2, 2012, 1:57 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Mark 4, verses 35-41 We know, a fierce storm arose . Jesus
was “asleep on a pillow.” The disciples, fearing
for their lives, crying, “Don’t you care if we
perish”?
Storms seem to come when we lest expect it!
We have moments of inspiration, maybe in a church service, or in
quiet meditation, when the presence of God is so real we come
away from the experience feeling lifted up and blessed by what
we have learned. We resolve to never forget it.
Then "Monday" comes!
Suddenly we forget all we have known of the presence and loving
protection... and we sense we are going under in some storm
which has come suddenly.
We wonder if God has forgotten us. It sometimes seems as if God
deaf or like Jesus was... asleep.
We cry out to Him and peace comes to the troubled waters.
When things settle down and we are peaceful and still again, yet
we are faced with the question, “Why was I so
fearful”? Where was the faith I thought I had”?
A storm can come from many different directions...work, home,
friends, misunderstandings ..or something that seems to be just
more than we can handle. Whatever the case, how we
“weather the storm,” is what determines the outcome.
I believe 'the perfect storm' is the one we are able to sail
through in perfect calmness and at total peace ......all the way
to the other side, knowing that Jesus, who promised to never
leave us or forsake us, is there with us.

Yes! The peace that goes beyond understanding ... no matter
what, no matter where, no matter affects that peace and
assuredness, that certitude that we are in the Lord's hand and
direction... following always following knowing we are led by
not only 'a', but by 'THE' Master.
I am so grateful.

Thanks, George. My Mother also taught me something with this
song. I like this song as a kid and asked my Mother once why
we didn't sing it more in our church. She said there were lots
of songs, and other people had songs they liked. I shouldn't
expect everyone else to sing what I liked every Sunday. But
yes, I still love and thanks for finding it. You might say
that when I get riled up over "what I want," I need to remember
that that tempest need not be raging.

( this is from my achives, not "mine" as such, but mine
now in heart. ;) )
Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night Job 35:10
Do you have sleepless nights, tossing on the hot pillow, and
watching for the first glint of dawn? ( Yep) Ask the Divine
Spirit to enable you to fix your thoughts on God your Maker, and
believe that He can fill those lonely, dreary hours with song.
Is yours the night of bereavement? Is it not often at such a
time that God draws near, and assures the mourner that the Lord
has need of the departed loved one, and called “the eager,
earnest spirit to stand in the bright throng of the invisible,
liberated, radiant, active, intent on some high mission”; and as
the thought enters, is there not the beginning of a song?
Is yours the night of discouragement and fancied or actual
failure? No one understands you, your friends reproach; but your
Maker draws nigh, and gives you a song—a song of hope, the song
which is harmonious with the strong, deep music of His
providence. Be ready to sing the songs that your Maker gives.
~Selected~
“What then? Shall we sit idly down and say
The night hath come; it is no longer day?
Yet as the evening twilight fades away,
The sky is filled with stars, invisible to day.”
The strength of the vessel can be demonstrated only by the
hurricane,
and the power of the Gospel can be fully shown only when the
Christian is subjected to some fiery trial.
If God would make manifest the fact that “He giveth songs in the
night,” He must first make it night!!!

When the day comes that we sail through the fiercest of storms
which tosses our craft up and down, throwing us from side to
side so we are unaware of direction. when the heavens are dark
and no star shines out to mark our progress, others will say"
how do you manage to stay so calm in such a storm"?
Shall we not reply "storm, what storm? This is no more than a
stiff breeze to more readily bring us to the Lords desired
haven"!

Me too!
That, to me, perfectly describes what "stillness" is.
Some get mad at the drop of a hat. Others don't even notice the
hat is missing.
Some moan over what is lost... others celebrate what another has
found by God's blessings.
etc, etc...

Vestal Goodman again. :) Too bad the video part is a little
broken up on this, but her voice is still very good. I love
the way she ends, "And they will pass, darling."
