Why did God abandon us???

I was watching a special today and towards the end a man said of
a wise rabbi, when questioned "Why did God abandon us???" The
wise rabbi replied,
[center]" When a parent is teaching there infant how to walk,
they begin by walking with the infant, they walk beside the
infant holding its hand; But then at some point the parent walks
away from the infant and turns around and waits for the infant
to walk to them.
God hasn't abandoned us, When he first started his creation he
had to walk with it, beside it holding its hand. But now that
his creation has matured,
[size=18pt]He is just waiting for us to walk to
him..."[/size][/center]

This is the first post I read on here today.
EXCELLENT George...what a blessing!
It is a good reminder for me...I needed that.
When I was in hospital 7 years ago...things did not go well..
The surgery it self went well...but then things went downhill
fast.
I felt like God had let me down." where was He when I needed
Him?"
I could not feel His presence..I felt let down, sick and
disillusioned.
My brother James called me from England..I told him how I felt
abandoned and had lost my faith...James used the very same story
you used here...
He said..."No Helen, God has gone nowhere...He is standing a way
off with His armes wide open waiting for you to walk into them.
Have faith, you can walk."
Amen...He is always and forever The Waiting Father. :)

^ Praise and Glory be to God!!! When I heard it, it really
touched the heart and I felt a need to share with others... I am
