Bishop Crowned King

This happened years ago but recently came to my attention. I
just couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Eddie Long crowned ‘king’; religious leaders aren’t impressed
By Elizabeth FlockFebruary 3, 2012
Megachurch leader Eddie Long is making waves once again after a
video being circulated on the Web shows him being crowned “king”
in an elaborate ceremony, the Associated Press reports. Other
religious leaders have called the video “repulsive” and
“inappropriate.”

elaborate ceremony Sunday. (YouTube)
“He's a king. God’s blessed him. He’s a humble man,” said Messer
said. “But in him is kingship. In him is royalty. In him was a
land of Israel.”
Long is then raised up on a throne to the ecstatic applause of
the parishioners. “He now is raised up from a commoner to a
kingship,” said Messer.

I hadn't heard that before either. It seems that "Rabbi"
Messer isn't really a Rabbi. "Bishop" Long later apologized
for the incident. From CNN
HTML http://www.cnn.com/2012/02/05/us/georgia-eddie-long-apology/:
Bishop Eddie Long has apologized to the Anti-Defamation League
over an incident in which he was wrapped in a Torah scroll and
crowned "king."
As shown in a video that went viral, the televangelist was
wrapped in a "Holocaust Torah" and crowned king during a recent
ceremony at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, his suburban
Atlanta congregation.
"The ceremony was not my suggestion, nor was it my intent, to
participate in any ritual that is offensive in any manner to the
Jewish community, or any group. Furthermore, I sincerely
denounce any action that depicts me as a King, for I am merely
just a servant of the Lord," Long wrote in a letter dated
Saturday.
The letter was addressed to Bill Nigut, southeast regional
director of the Anti-Defamation League -- a Jewish group that
fights anti-Semitism.
"While I believe that Rabbi Ralph Messer has good intentions
during his message at New Birth, I understand that the ceremony
he performed on Sunday, January 29th, caused harm to the Jewish
community, for which I am deeply sorry," Long wrote.
On Sunday, Nigut acknowledged the apology and said he was
grateful for it.
A little more research revealed that "Rabbi" Messer did
something similar with Paula White though not so elaborate.

You can see it for yourself; but later she denied it ever
happened. From Christian Post
HTML http://www.christianpost.com/news/paula-white-wrapped-in-torah-scroll-by-rabbi-ralph-messer-in-2009-video-68866/:
White then issued a statement via PaulaWhite.org, calling the
allegation "utterly and completely false."
"There is not a single shred of truth in it. Nevertheless, the
newspaper has continued to post this ridiculous story, even
after Pastor White's representative repeatedly denied the story
directly to the publisher," the statement read.
White has previously interviewed Rabbi Messer, reportedly a
Messianic Jew, on her television show, the statement affirmed.
However, the statement also insisted that White has "no ties or
affiliation" with Messer and that "she does not endorse him in
any way, and she will not be participating in any events with
him."
Included with White's statement was a comment her attorney,
Daniel Beirute, made to the Florida Courier's publisher, in
which he called the publication's report a "ridiculous fantasy"
and insisted that White "has no ties or affiliation with Mr.
Messer. She does not endorse him in any way, and she would never
consider participating in any so-called coronation under any
circumstances, whatsoever."
But the 2009 video, which has already gone viral on the
Internet, clearly shows Messer performing a nearly identical
Torah wrapping on the pastor, which have led some to speculate
that White's attorney was not entirely forthcoming in his
statement.
You can see why Paula White and Donald Trump hit it off.
They're both masters of alternative facts as was "Bishop" Long.
What I find amusing about Long's statement is that he pretended
it was all Messer's idea, he had nothing to do with it. But
the video starts off with Messer asking people how many can feel
an anointing in the room. Why didn't someone -- like Long
himself, say, "I can't." Similarly, we are to believe White
had someone on her show she knew nothing about and had no
spiritual discernment about.
