"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the
oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown." This
connects to Lord of the Flies, because in the book, everyone
started getting scared of the beast. The thing is, the beast
isn't real. Everyone on the island has a beast inside of them.
Ralph, Jack, Piggy all see the beast on the hill. They thought
it was a beast, but it was a dead body. They thought the
parachute was the beast breathing. People in real life are
scared of certain things in the world. Kids are scared of going
to school. Adults are scared of knowing when they will die. Know
one will every know anything about the unknown.

The fear of the unknown a crazy thought yes? In the book Lord of
The Flies, the fear of the unknown is great and occurs more than
once in this book. For example, the quote, "We all have a fear
of the unknown. What one does with that fear will make all the
difference in the world." This quote represents the book I think
quite well. It also represents the world. This quote occurs in
this book when the beastie shows up. The little ones are so
scared that they are letting their imaginations take over them.
This is beginning to scare all the other kids too. However, in
this circumstance, the fear of the unknown, is just themselves.
They needed to calm down and take their time and try to
understand and not just rush it and get scared right away. In
the world this occurs also. There are so many things people are
scared of. People have extraordinary fears. Whether it being in
dark spaces, spiders, or dogs. The overall answer is that
everybody has a fear. You just may not know it.

We all have a fear of the unknown. What one does with that fear
will make all the difference in the world.
Fear can be very powerful. In the book, they wouldn’t even go
up on the mountain because they were so scared of the
nonexistent beast. You can be like the kids in lord of the
flies, and you can flee from your fear, or you can face it like
Simon did. If you face your fears, you won’t have to be scared
anymore. You won’t have to run away from your problems. You can
face them and make good decisions in your life. The only way to
overcome your fears, is to face them. Once you face them, there
is nothing holding you back.

I think everyone has 'fear of the unknown.' Throughout the whole
book someone had at least one fear in them. "Fear is contagious.
You can catch it." I also feel like this quote is very true
throughout the book. The littluns are scared at the beginning
and this brings fear to some of the biguns. When the little kids
say they've seen the beastie, some of the older ones don't
believe them. After a while it starts to rub off on them and
soon everyone thinks there actually is a beastie on this island.
This shows that fear can actually be contagious. None of them
realized that the beast was inside them except for Simon. I
think this quote really does represent a good part of Lord of
The Flies.

“Fear is contagious. You can catch it.”
This quote applied to Lord of the Flies because the children
were fearful of the beast after only a few people think they saw
it. At first the little kids were scared of the “Beastie” which
one child thought was a snake. There was no proof of anything to
be scared of. In the real world, people can instill fear upon
people with various ways if the people admire or trust that
person.

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the
oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” This
quote is relatable to the Lord of the Flies. This Is shown by
how the boys on the island thought there was a beast because
they did not know what was out there. It is shown in world by
how darkness can give us fear. We do not know what is beyond and
that gives everyone fear.

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the
oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” –
H.P. Lovercraft
It is true when people start getting scared, they start to
panic and imagine things. They start getting crazy and they hear
things and anything thing even the smallest thing they get
scared of. Like when Simon crawled out of the forest to where
Jack and Ralph where they immediately that he was the beast and
murder him with their bare hands. People in the real world with
fear phobias are kind of crazy because they are not normal
according to specialist and other people. Fear has been around
forever and is one of the most strongest emotion that can kill
you or drive you insane!!

“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a
man’s character give him power.” This relates to the book
because when Jack finally gets his power he abuses it a lot by
hurting and killing the kids on the island. Like when he kills
Simon and beats SamnEric. This relates to real life because lots
of people abuse power and only bad things can come from this.
This relates to my life because every once in a while my friends
abuse power when they play sports or even when we are just
hanging out.

"We all have a fear of the unknown. What one does with that fear
will make all the difference in the world." To me, this means
that everyone in this world has fear, it's just about what you
do with that fear that makes the difference. This relates to the
book because in the book each boy did something different with
the fear. Jack used it to try and scared all of the little boys,
but Simon on the other hand, tried to get rid of it by going up
the mountain and proving there’s no beast. In the world, there
are people who try to use fear to make money off people. But
there are also people who try to use fear to get people to be
safe. Its just about how you use that fear, that makes the
difference.
