"Nearly all men stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's
character, give him power." This connects to the lord of the
flies because Ralph was given power and he was useful and wise
with it. ;) ;D ;D When Jack left and basically gave him self
power, he abused it and became a savage and didn't care about
others. He tied up Wilfred and beat him because he wanted to
show that he was in control. I can connect this to the world
when Hitler gained power and killed most of the Jews. Hitler was
in control and he didn't care about anyone except himself and
his army no one else. :o :o :o :o :-\ >:(

"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to
test a man's character, give him power." -Abraham Lincoln. What
he is saying is some people abuse power when given and it
changes them. Like in the book, when Jack got power he did what
ever he wanted without any punishment. If you get a leader that
puts their people before himself you have a good leader, but if
you have a leader that thinks of himself before his people you
don't have a good leader. Where you see this in the world is
when the grown ups leave a babysitter behind to babysit the
kids, the kids wont act the same as they would for if the grown
ups where there.

"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a
man's character, give him power."-Abraham Lincoln.
Jack was just the head boy of the choir boy but when Ralph was
chosen chief of the island, he got upset because he wanted
power. Jack didn't have the power over everyone just the hunters
but when we stated his own tribe he got power. He got so upset
of having power he started abusing it by beating up lil ones. He
started by killing pigs to humans. He wanted all the power and
almost had it all except Ralph at the end. He wanted to kill him
so bad he destroyed the whole island.
And people in the real world that don't have power and are
mistreated are like robin hood. They help the poor and the
needed. But when they get power they get selfish and they change
majority of them. They will have everything they want like money
and they wouldn't share it because they don't care about the
other people because they don't have to help them anymore.

"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a
man's character, give him power."This happened in the book when
Jack took power over everyone and became really mean. He started
a new tribe and beat up people for no reason. Roger also started
to do this in the book. This happened in our world to countries
that had dictators. The dictators took over all the power and
used the power to help them. They killed people for no reason
and took over people's lives. That is why a lot of countries are
going to a democracy so people have a say in government.

“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a
man’s character give him power.” -Abraham Lincoln.
This quote is very relatable to The Lord of the Flies. This was
shown in Jack as he gained power, it showed his savage character
and lust for power. It showed his unfair character as he tied up
Wilfred for no real reason just to show he was in power. It also
happened to Roger as he let his evil character as he gained
power. This relates to world by how now a days leaders
characters are shown. One example would be Hitler, he used his
power without any wisdom.

"What I fear most is power with impunity. I fear abuse of power,
and the power to abuse." - Isabelle Allende
This quote can be used in life throughout all history. People
have power, abuse of it or they abuse to get power. People don't
know how to handle the power and they want more. They want to be
more than everybody. This is exactly where abuse comes in. They
don't care what happens to the people below them as long as they
are above them. As soon as Jack knew he had power he quickly
used it to be more than everybody else. He hurt the littluns,
because he was older and more important. He did it because he
had the power to.

People who abuse power today are people that are using their
power for their own good and to keep the power. Like senators
and government people use their power to stay in the position
they are in or better in society.

What do you think would happen if Jack was more like Ralph?
