Don Vito's Bossing Guide --> Tormented Demons.
By: Don Vito Date: September 12, 2013, 9:38 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Hello, and thanks for clicking.
This guide will be split into 3 parts :
1 ) What tormented demons are and how the system works.
       2 ) The combat system.
       3 ) The fight.
Part 1 : What are tormented demons? (You can skip to part 2 if
       you want).
Tormented demons are considered bosses, because they are one of
the few npcs on the server that you cannot camp. However,
because they are the only way to get Dragon claws, alot of
people still go there in hope to get their 3B reward. Please
bare in mind, that the prices may change, it all depends on the
       economy.
Often , lazy players tend to call them "too hard". That is
because of the protection prayers and the shield that they use.
However, they are one of the few bosses that are actually fun to
do and don't put you to sleep, not saying any names. *Ehm* Sea
       Troll Queen *Ehm*.
Part 2 : The combat system.
First I will explain you how tormented demons work, and then I
will explain why we will be using mage.
When approaching a tormented demon, the first thing you notice
is the protection prayer, it will usually have protect melee in
       the beginning.
When you attack it, you will notice yellow flames, like a
shield. What that shield does, is pretty much minimize your hits
       to the lowest possible.
For example, if you would hit a 400 on them, due to the shield
that 400 will result in a 50-150. So we need to get rid of that
       shield.
So the reason we will be using mage, is because chances that the
demon will start protecting mage, is very low.
I've tried out various methods, and maging is simply the best,
       especially for beginners.
If you range it, after 1 or 2 high hits, it will pray range, so
the switching is just too much ,and you will not concentrate on
his attacks, resulting in major, unecessary damage.
Tormented demons will usually attack with mage and range, and
switch to melee sometimes when you are close.
The damage it can do is painful, it can combo you with 260s and
before you notice you will arrive at home staring at me.
Which is why praying is an important factor here, and you should
only be hit once or twice with the method before praying.
For example, if you see that his attack is magic, which you will
know after feeling it, start praying mage as soon as you can.
Once it hits you with range, he will keep hitting you 3-4+ times
, and we don't wanna end up home, so pray to range as fast as
       you can.
The yellow shield can be broken with a regular hit from a
darklight, which can be bought from the armour store at home,
       for less than 1k.
Do not worry about the demon protecting melee , as the darklight
only needs to HIT it, as soon as your exp drops, switch to mage
and start raping the sh*t out of it.
You will not hit anything on the demon with your darklight,
because of the protection prayer, but you only need to
       "fictional" hit it.
NOTE : Just attacking with it will not do it ! You need to see
the exp drop before you switch back to mage !]
For gear, I would highly recommend getting full ganodermic with
a farsier kiteshield, giving you a +60% magic absorbsion, which
will minimize the demons hit and save alot of food.
If you cannot afford gano or you don't want to buy a farsier
kiteshield, get the best mage armour you can.
The arcane stream necklace is simply a MUST because of the +15%
magic damage it gives you. A Chaotic staff is not a must, but is
       very effective.
I've tested some various spells before, and I have to say that
       ice barrage is my favourite.
Armadyl storm and miasmic barrage are wonderful for PKing, but
are pretty useless here, because it does not hit as high as Ice
       barrage.
I have personally done 490s on tormented demons with Ice
barrage, so it is extremely good.
       Inventory :
       - 1 Extreme magic potion.
       - 2 or 3 Super restore flasks.
       - Enough runes for at least 100 Ice Barrages.
       - Darklight.
       - Ring of wealth (you can wear it too, but if you have a seers
ring, I would recommend wearing that and switching to the wealth
       ring at the end-.
OPTIONAL - Because the darklight has a +13 str bonus, and we are
in mage gear, I would recommend bringing a dragon defender and a
fury to switch when using melee.
       Part 3 : The Fight !
So when you got everything ready, talk to the yellow guy called
"Monster Teleports", and go to tormented demons.
When teleported, walk south-east untill you see the first demon.
This is a multi zone, so try to stay away from the other demons,
as we don't need to take unnecessary damage.
When you are ready, take a sip of your extreme magic potion,
pray range, equip your darklight and put on piety/turmoil
       (optional).
Keep the prayer tab open, and switch to mage as soon as he does
a magic attack. You can't know when he will, so after he hit
you once with it, and you see it's a magic attack, switch to
       protect from magic.
As soon as your exp drops, meaning you did a "fictional" hit on
the demon, the shield will be broken for 60 seconds, here is
       where the maging takes place.
AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN, autocast Ice barrage and take a couple of
steps away from the demon, to avoid the unecessary melee attack.
If you had piety/turmoil on, put on a magic boosting prayer
(augury recommended, level 74) and start fighting the demon.
As soon as the shield comes back, equip the darklight and repeat
       the process.
       SOME USEFULL TIPS !
-When you had your first kill, and you have 5-6 food left, go
bank and come back, don't stay , hoping that you will survive
       it.
-Always remember to switch to the ring of wealth at the END !
-it's better for you to miss 1 or 2 attacks, rather than take
5-6 hits , ALWAYS BE CAREFUL AT HIS ATTACKS AND REMEMBER TO PRAY
       RIGHT !
If there is anything you want to know, whether it's bossing or
skilling, or what gear or invy you should take to be able to
camp somewhere, please feel free to ask me, either on the
       forums, or in-game.
Best of luck, and may the loot system reward you with some sexy
       claws ;)
