[size=36pt]I fell into a wrong marriage
[size=36pt] Every third of December brings hurtful memories of
my past and fills me with mixed feelings of regret, depression,
pity, fury and resentment, for that was the day I got married
eight years ago-what a failed marriage because I thought I had
what it takes to make a relationship work. I’m educated and
gainfully employed in one of the biggest company in Nigeria,
with a fat salary, people call me goddess, because of my beauty,
I am smart, intelligent and appealing. What else could a man
want in a woman? I had a very elaborate wedding, but the fanfare
lasted only a year when we started having unresolvable conflict,
I realized that there was another woman in the life of my
husband, so I located the house of the woman I suspected he was
having an affair with, and quarreled with her, that infuriated
him, and the rest was I found myself in the hospital after he
had seriously beaten me to stupor. I’m full of regrets. If I
could turn back the hands of time, I will do things differently.
Today I watch young women get so excited about getting married,
and the question I ask myself is: are they really prepared for
marriage? Well, the ball is in their court.
