Slogan “become a child of illusion”
       By: Newt0322 Date: March 24, 2021, 3:46 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
In this weeks readings on the slogan I was struck by Pema
Chodron’s statement “ .... science making the same discoveries
that we make sitting in meditation. The room that we sit in is
solid and very vivid; it would be ridiculous to say that it
wasn’t there. But what science is finding out is that the
material world isn’t as solid as it seems; it’s more like a
hologram—vivid, but empty at the same time.”
This brought to mind a 2018 lecture by the Dahli Lama on
Buddhist concepts and the science of quantum physics. It is a
lengthy YouTube video (~3 hours per day over 3 days) and I have
only skimmed parts but it is fascinating. One take away from the
       lectures was :
"Within every atom, you can find part of the stardust that comes
from the very beginning of the universe. In some way, as the
Dalai Lama says, we’re all connected and form part of the same
essence. Understanding this connection can help us understand
the importance of being good. That’s because everything you do
reverberates in the universe and comes back to you.”
Perhaps more to the point of this weeks slogan is the
statement that: "Quantum physics demonstrates that energy is
beyond everything tangible and material. Buddhism has always
defended this idea and the need to transcend the physical in
order to give your consciousness more relevance. At the end of
the day, your mental impressions are what shape and form your
reality. You are what you think, and what you think shapes your
       surroundings."

Sorry if I posted this twice. Social media tech. is always a
       challenge for me.
The “child of illusion” slogan brought to mind a favorite T.S.
Eliot quote which also seemed appropriate for lojong study in
       general.
"We shall never cease from exploration.
And the end of all our exploring.
Will be to arrive where we stared.
And know the place for the first time.”

Good choice of poetry to illustrate the child of illusion
slogan. It's such a rich four lines.
