Not too many games, but I'll be laying some small stuff to buoy
into midweek.
Two UCL plays:
Pacos Ferreira/Zenit St Petersburg o2 -130
This is Pacos Ferreira's first crack at Champions League
qualifying coming out of Portugal, and they do get the home
advantage.
Zenit has scored in four straight away games, one of which was a
1-0 away win against Nordsjaelland in a previous UCL qualifier.
I like Zenit for at least a goal here.
Pacos has good scoring form at home, and I will back it for one
tomorrow.
The draw is in play being the first leg of the home-and-home,
but I do reserve some confidence that Zenit can knock in two
before the return leg.
Zenit has scored 11 goals in its last three games in all
competitions. Goal-scoring form is good.
Shakhtyor Karagandy vs Celtic Draw +225
Small play for value here, just a good feeling.
Don't know much about the Kazakhstani club, but I do know Celtic
is very capable of getting a goal in a weird, new environment.
Shakhtyor did manage a win on the road in its last UCL
qualifying tie, so it is more than good for a goal.
Got a feeling that Celtic will be more than happy to try to win
the round at home, and an away goal in hand will be good for
that scenario.
England Championship:
Wigan -1 -125 vs Doncaster Rovers
Two clubs joining the Championship from opposite directions.
Wigan got relegated from the EPL and Doncaster makes the jump up
from the Conference.
Doncaster has played its two league games at home, winning one
2-0 over Blackburn and losing its opener to Blackpool 1-3. This
will be Doncaster's first road game of the season.
Wigan will make its home debut after its two road games. The
Latics split, winning 4-0 over Barnsley and losing 1-0
surprisingly to AFC Bournemouth, which was promoted along with
Doncaster.
I expect to see a decent discrepancy in quality of play, and
Wigan should be favored to win promotion back to the Premier
League. Can't really see Wigan losing this home game, but I
think a 2-0 or maybe 3-0 home win is in the books.
