Seeing Toni and Kiki being really excited I giggle and say,
"whoa, guys. Take it down a notch or two. I haven't had any
coffee yet!"
Hearing Kiki I give her an extra kiss at my 'new name' and
remark, "well thank you, honey. And your calling me that makes
this birthday even more special."
"Toni, shouldn't your having blown up these balloons mean that
you're tired instead of hyper?" I ask, teasing her lightly.
I smile when Iona says happy birthday and gently tell her,
"thank you, honey." She and I have had what you might call a
rough start and so hearing her say that helps me to know things
will be okay.

I chuckle when the kids all start to ask if we can eat. "Okay,
