waiting for nanty

*After dinner is finished, and after helping nanty clear away, i
head on up to my room. Changing into my pajamas, i curl up on
the bed and close my eyes while i wait for Nanty.*

Once everything is squared away with the others I head to Iona's
bedroom with the spoon in hand and knock quietly, peeking
inside.
"Iona I'm coming in, Sweetheart," I warn her with a sympathetic
note in my voice. Sitting on her bed facing her I ask, "why are
you in trouble this week?"

*Hearing Nanty at the door, i roll over and sit up up. Looks
away when nanty asks why im in trouble this week. Taking a
breath i answer quietly.
"Because i made poor choices"

"Poor choices, such as?" I ask, seriously. I don't intend to
needlessly harp on Iona or rub it in but when she is actively
being punished I want the reason to be in the front of her mind.

pillow, not even caring that at 14, im really too old for
stuffies. Closing my eyes briefly, i think about whats still
to come....*

"Get some sleep, baby." I stay with her until she falls asleep,
not stopping rubbing hrer back until she has.
