* Having used the computer to do the research for the paper, i
glance over the notes I've taken. Rubbing at my eyes i roll my
neck then stand up and head to the coffee maker, but realises
it's gone cold. Rather than start a new pot i decide tea would
probably hit the spot better than coffee anyway, so i stick the
kettle on to boil and ready my favourite mug. Leans against the
counter with my eyes closed as i wait for the kettle to boil.*

After while I go back in the kitchen to check on Iona. Frowning
gently I go over to her and step to the side so she can see me
out of her peripheral vision. "Hey, kiddo. You ok?"

*Startled, my eyes fly open as i hear nanty speak, not having
heard her enter the kitchen. Blinking at her for a second or 2
i indicate the now-boiled kettle and attempt to xpalin
"break-tea-making-working-on-it ummm i mean making tea i working
on the essay i gots my notes i just need a write its"

Thinking Iona is panicking because she got caught not working I
calmly tell her as she I get a mug down for her, "it's okay,
relax, Iona. I'm not accusing you of procrastinating, and your
brain can only handle so much information at a time." Sometimes
having a teacher for an aunt can come in handy--understanding of
how kids learn best!
