Oh, Children! (Nanty and the Kids)

With my nieces now living with my daughter and I, I figured it
was about time to go over the house rules. They had all had
several days to settle in and I wanted to have the talk before
school got started. I feel like Willa might benefit from a
refresher as well.
"Girls, please come and meet me in the living room!"
As they arrive, they will be able to see the poster board with
the rules clearly written:
[center]1. Take responsibility for yourself and your actions.
2. Respect yourself and those around you, as well as property.
3. Make safe choices.[/center]

*Hearing Mama yelling from downstairs, I slip the notebook i'd
been writing in into my Desk Drawer, making sure it's locked and
the key hidden in its usual hiding spot, Before heading
downstairs. Spies the Poster board and mentally rolls my eyes
as i curl up on the corner of the sofa.*

I watch as Iona comes into the room, followed by Willa. "Hi,
girls."
I laugh when Kiki peeks out from behind the couch and say, "come
on out of there for right now. You need to listen to what I have
to say. It won't take very long. Promise."
Looking around I notice Toni's the only one not there. "Antonia
Jody Corrie Annabelle! I know you heard me!" I call, going to
the doorway so I can be heard better from all over. "You have
until the count of three to come in here! One!" My tone is
serious but I am not angry, nor am I shouting for any other
reason than to be sure I'm heard.

*Hearing my full name called i jump up, startled, and promptly
trip over the dogs lying at my feet! Picking myself up i open
the front door and head inside, eyeing Nanty warily, wondering
what i did to get the full name treatment*

When I see my niece I smile and take a breath. Well, that was
easy. Mildly I tell her, "Next time I call you, you come the
first time. Am I understood?" I had called out to everyone to
bein with, but I wasn't going to let Tony argue the point. She
was old enough to know that she was supposed to listen the first
time.
