Do we believe God's promises?
By: Pat Date: March 22, 2020, 5:53 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Do we believe God's promises? Do we even know what he promises?
In the current climate I think it is important that we remind
ourselves of how much he loves us and his promises to shelter us
and provide for those that love him.

And, I shall copy/paste my reply :D
Amen Pat...His promises should be playing a huge part in our
thanksgiving, yes? His promises are solid and even if He does
not deliver, we shall still trust Him! He has not let me down
yet. I would just like to have strong faith to rise above all
that is happening in the world right now and to pray fervently
for so many lost souls out there.
I wonder if @amadeus would call this pandemic "the Left Hand of
God" :D

Good thread Pat.
I don't think that He always 'keeps us safe' in a way that
WE want to be kept safe. [emoji4]
"My" personal interpretation of 'being kept safe' would include
no harm, pain, danger, or inconvenience.
But too many wonderful missionaries and people of
God have "claimed the promise" of Psalm 91 , only to find that
the 'keeping' part was not the physical body at all , but the
keeping of our faith and our inner man untouched by
circumstances, yet the body many times greatly hurt, changed,
or even destroyed.
That said, one promise for sure is "to supply all our
needs..."(not wants) ...and " I will be with you in trouble..."
He will give us overcoming grace. Grace = Gods ability in us to
do what we can't do.
Just my thoughts ...

Well put Helen,
Do we often wonder what kind of strength, courage, faith it
takes to place oneself in the midst of danger to share The
Gospel?
And for sure, needs vs wants! How they differ between people.
What are our priorities, toilet paper??!!! Haha! Seriously
though, those missionaries out there Had to have learned how to
rely on God for the smallest of things. I wonder how we would
fare.
God Bless you with "overcoming grace" ❤ 😇

Today a friend of mine commented that our own personal worlds
are changing - so I think Gods promises are going to mean a lot
more over the coming months. I already find that I am more
grateful for the things that I have taken for granted- and boy,
have we just presumed so many things would always be their in
our comfortable western lifestyles.
The things we are struggling with now, well that’s the norm for
so many.
One thing God laid on my heart so many years ago ‘ focus on the
victory ‘ In other words - the light at the end of the tunnel xx

Amen. As bbyrd009 would say- "WORD"
I remember years ago someone preached and said a little phrase.
" The peace that we possess under pressure is proof of the
power that we posses. "
I also remember a little study I did years ago which showed
the the root word of Grace and Joy are the same.
Youngs concordance ...I must look it up again.

Absolutely, Pat. There really needs to be faith in His promises,
especially in times like these.
Here is a post I responded to earlier today. Poor woman sounded
like she was about to lose her mind:
kanna said:
With this virus going around I worry so much for my family....
I'm terrified... I can't sleep.. I'm crying worrying about
myself and my family... It hurts so much I can't... I'm at the
breaking point. I'm scared Lord .. I'm scared ...
Several scriptures came to mind, and my response was:
Well, Kanna, by worrying so much you could actually be doing
damage to your health already, and making your families
anxieties worse as well. Anxiety is tied by research studies to
a whole host of health problems, including mental health
problems; depression, nausea, fatigue etc. are only minor
effects, but insomnia is also common, and if you can't sleep
well then a whole host of other more serious problems can
eventually follow.
HTML https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/anxiety_and_physical_illness
This is why we are commanded in scripture to be anxious for
nothing, but to cast all our anxieties upon the Lord. After
asking Him (each time it comes to mind) to watch over you and
your loved ones, spend the rest of your time focusing on Him and
His provision. I can honestly tell you I don't worry in the
least about this whole business, financially or health-wise. My
wife gets mad at me about it, but my eyes are focused squarely
upon the Lord and continuing to serve Him, and there is no room
for anxiety in my life anymore..."
I wasn't making it up either. Nothing worries me; not even this.
I actually joke around too much about the whole COVID-19 scare.
I have this habit of walking into a room and screaming, "I've
got the Corona!!!"
Now that everyone's used to me, one often replies, "You mean a
six pack?" and I'll say, "No! I've got one left, and I'm saving
it for a special occasion... so stay away!" All in good
fun, of course, but I honestly have absolute confidence that I
am going to be living through this and fulfill my calling, no
ifs, ands or buts about it.
I think maybe part of the reason many don't trust God quite like
I do is because they honestly don't even know their calling...
and thus are not deeply tied into God's purpose for their lives
enough to trust that He will fulfill it.
Sounds awful, I suppose, like I'm "bragging" about my trust in
God. But I figure better to be honest than just be another
fear-filled believer chiming in and sympathizing with a woman
who sounds so worry-stricken that I wonder if she even calls
upon the Lord at all.
I got torn between trying to instill faith and wanting to offer
comfort... but there were others offering comfort. I figured I
needed to demonstrate some faith.

Everyone is. :) I broke through a wall where worrying about
money was concerned about 6-7 years ago. Until then, money was
always a big concern. I have less of it now, but I just got to
the place where I wasn't going to concern myself with it
anymore. Even if I have to find a new line of work at the age of
55, so be it. He will watch over me somehow.
There is one down side, though: When you break through, it can
add to increasing boredom with life. Amazing how no longer
having anxieties can take what was once a major pastime out of
your life. Even if it was a bad one, it still has this way of
leaving a void...
Always something, LoL. Always something.

I also have a deep peace HIH. When a worrying though crosses my
mind I remember the scriptures I have been guided to and quote
them to myself.
Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according
to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every
situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present
your requests to God.
Psalm 139:16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days
ordained for me were written in your book before one of them
came to be.
Psalm 91:5-7 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the
arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the
darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand
may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it
will not come near you.
