Keeping up with postings.
By: guest36 Date: February 7, 2020, 3:53 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Being in the UK I'm on a different time zone to most currently
active members. When I get to do my reading there is so much to
catch up with that I can hardly keep up.
What I'm having to do is log in, then click on the board titles
in turn, then work through the posts in each board.
It may well be my fault because, in my zeal to liven up the
relaunch with lots of visual images I have eclipse the software
purpose of indicating each board's unread posts by an icon in
the first column (I think that's how it's supposed to work).
I've got a 'ghost forum' in which I did some initial
experimenting so maybe I'll use that to do some more
experimenting. Unless members tell me to reign back on the
'visuals' in any case, especially now that things are swinging
along on the strength of so many 'spiritual' and friendly posts.
God is indeed "blessing all who sail in LW".

If members want to see what the forum would look like without my
'visuals' you can see by logging into my experimental site at
HTML https://christianfellowshipforum.createaforum.com/
You'll see that the first column is much narrower and contains
the icons which, if a registered member clicked on, would
indicate if the board contained any new posts.
In consequence the second column has become much wider.
I'm beginning to wonder if I might have gone ott with my
'visuals'.
Let me know what you think please.

I see no problem Mike ...I think we are all getting used to
things how they are now.
You did a good job of setting everything up...well done bro.

The demand, both on an old man and his wife have been almost
24/7 to the exclusion of sharing with the housework. You will
see that from the timing of my posts. I've had to promise
Christine that I would reign back.
I tried "Wot thee not that I must be about my Father's business"
but it didn't cut.

Yes I can see that . She is probably worried about you overdoing
it.
Just relax in the fact of what you have achieved ...A job
well done.
You can float on that for a while ....x

With Christine away, and being an impossible perfectionist, I
can't stop myself from meddling.
Now, since no one but you has responded, I'm thinking ok for the
visuals, but I can't ignore the overall improvement to column
widths when that first column was reduced to only show the
clickable 'new post' icons. So now I've kept the visuals but
reduced their size.
Take another peep at its effect in my experimental site:
HTML https://christianfellowshipforum.createaforum.com/
I'm really hoping that you might allow me to make such changes
in this relaunch.
I could do it in an hour or so whilst the western side of the
pond is asleep.
I could say all this by PM but maybe ppl like to know what goes
on in the background. ;)

Maybe I am blind and have to be led by the hand, but I still
find it a bit complicated not to be able to simply directly open
this site to "NEW POSTS." My desktop CB Shortcut opens
immediately to the "NEW POSTS" list. Click on the desktop icon,
and I see the New Posts there, instantly.

If when you log in you scroll down to 'Forum stats' (near the
bottom) you can click on "View the most recent posts on the
forum" and that will take you into listings in batches of ten
(Helen can increase that to batches of 20, which might be a good
idea for as long as activity remains high).
