PRAYER FOR MIKE.
By: Helen Date: October 20, 2016, 8:27 am
---------------------------------------------------------
I received this from Mike today. Let us remember him in our
prayers.
And, may God give him wise counsel from whatever doctor he
seeks to help him.
Hi Helen,
Unless you think it best not to do so, perhaps you could copy
this onto LW.
I’m a mess and am planning to seek doctor’s advice on whether I
should take some sort of ‘calming’ medication.
Meantime I’m trying to isolate myself from Internet
‘Christianity’ since, despite moments of uplift, parallel moment
of despair seem to be one of my main areas of stress.
I haven’t the strength to simply refrain from ‘going there’, so
I’ve deleted every connection (including BlogSpot) and have even
deleted every one of my browser links.
I’ll be left with a dreadful three hour void between my early
morning awakening and Christine’s, but somehow I just must find
a way to ‘get a life’ of normality.
That’s it.

Lord I pray that you will provide for Mike at this time in
whatever he needs. Give him quietness in his spirit and peace
of mind; Rest for body and soul so that he may be refreshed and
return to fellowship with us.

In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who
restrains his lips is wise. Prov 10.19 I think Mike has chosen
wisely to rest a while ... Bless him!

I sent Dave's suggestion to Mike...Dave said.. " Go to the
closest Pub, have a slow pint and chat to some lonely soul.
That will do you much more good than calming meds from any
doctor."
Giving something of ourself to others could indeed help
us feel like we are dropping some little seeds of kindness. It
doesn't always need to be preachy, just "being there" for
someone could be good for them and yet 'medicine' for us.
I think many times we try too hard to "share Christ" when all
the time God wants us to just share something of 'ourself'.

So sorry to hear this - much love and prayer for Mike.
Although I hear what Dave is saying Helen, I am not so sure that
it is that easy when your mind is ' hooked ' on something. Our
minds are complex and so are our needs. The obsessions we
develop can be rooted by so many things, and can also be down to
chemical imbalances. Also Mike did convey that some of his
problem is in the early hours of the morning as he waits for his
wife to get up. However I realise that it continues throughout
the day at different times.
I realise that this is not the same but I was amazed when Dan
stopped smoking, he was a chain smoker- he knew it was not
helping him, but he simply could not stop the addition. Trying
just to give it up did not work, it wasn't until he understood
the addiction that he was able to make a decision. Understanding
the mental side brought about the resolve he needed.
It was the same with my eating disorder, once I understood the
root causes, understood what lay behind the cravings, understood
myself ect God was able to bring about release- granted I did
need ministry as Satan had really taken a hold through sexual
abuse. Do I still turn to food, yes sometimes, but it's
controlled and no longer an addiction. I no longer have the over
active mind games. I now crave release of my emotions rather
than a need to stuff them down with food, hence why I journal.
However it's only been in the last year that I have truly come
to grasp that only God truly understands my emotions, I use to
crave others hearing me, now it's God listening ear that brings
me comfort.
It's taken God years to get me to that point - and I am still
learning.
Sorry I have waffled !!!!!!!

I think that's was most clear Rita it is only God who helps
us. He leads us, He guides us, He chastises us and He restores
us and makes us new . He can be fully trusted to do whats best
for us. If Mikes noggin is perpetually going at a million miles
an hour then only God can act as a governor and slow the pace so
he doesn't burn out. Although medical drugs or alcohol are often
used in the short term there is no substitute for what God does
with us

No worries RITA...God was in the waffling....not that I found it
waffle...it was a very meaningful and wise post. x
I think Dave's point was for Mike to make friends with
flesh and blood in what we call " the real world"rather then
being inward, just living in the mind....which as we all know,
can be totally exhausting.
( which by the way is taken from the latin - "draw off, take
away, use up,"...referring to water) And indeed it does make us
"dry".

Amen, only God is the permanent 'cure' for any ills. As you
say, drugs are often meant as the first line of battle...trouble
is, many people get hooked on them and they become a crutch. We
pray that Mike has a good and wise doctor.

The governor that I referred to was a centrifugal governor which
is a integral part of early machinery.
After the speeding up of the engine it is countered by two
spinning weights that are drawn apart by the spinning motion due
to the speed of the engine and they are in turn fastened to rod
leading to a restriction mechanism thus its self sustaining and
doesn't run away with itself.
As Helen says and Mike may well find out that God mends his
creation, where we do temporary fixes at best.
