Devotionals
By: guest17 Date: October 14, 2016, 7:22 am

Emmy and I started a new devotional, a 365 day devotional. Its
a book called, "The Book of Mysteries." Its got scripture
reading at the end that re-enforces the teaching of the day.
Its a light hearted, bring a smile to your face devotional, that
teaches good lessons. Its supposed to be based on what the
author learned from some guy in the north African desert called
the Teacher. Its an all Christian based devotional that
teaches so unlike most teaching material. Sort of like a breath
of fresh air.

Très intéressant.
I did a search and found
HTML http://www.tekgnostics.com/GNOSIS4.htm#.WADzII8rLIU
With the following excerpt:
"The eschatology of the book is rather unusual. The end time
described by the author does not manifest itself in the normal
culmination of a battle, judgment, or catastrophe, but rather as
“a steady increase of light, [through which] darkness is made to
disappear or in which iniquity dissolves and just as the smoke
rising into the air eventually dissipates”. In this sense,
wisdom is an inevitable force that needs to be yielded to by
those who choose to accept it and are capable of understanding
it. There is no mention of angels, or YHWH's wrath, or
resurrection of the wise, or any of the typical Messianic
language that we usually associate with Judeo-Christian
eschatological texts. It simply argues for a change in focus
from folly to wisdom, and therefore righteousness."

The devotional I'm using at the moment is a 365 day study of the
importance of the Holy Spirit in the Christian's life. It's
called, 'Welcome Holy Spirit' by Garrie F. Williams who is a
Seventh Day Adventist.

Unity is a very compelling attraction, and nothing unifies a
religious group more than the conviction that they've got
something right that the vast majority have got wrong.
That is the strength of Seventh Day Adventists (and all other
'elitist' movements).

Unity is a key, but not in the way that people always use it. A
real sense many of the denominations, including Roman
Catholicism, may be unified, but were the builders of the tower
of Babel.
We must be unified, but always let be in God and His Son, rather
than in a particular group of people in a particular church.
Churches have in the past gotten set in their ways even though
they started out in the right direction. The key is not in what
we have done right in the past, but in keeping on eyes on the
Lord today and obeying what He is saying to our heart now.
In the beginning probably most [if not all] of the existing
denominations have been right in a measure and in the initial
moment they may have been right where God wanted them to be.
This was so with those who followed Luther when he moved against
the errors that God showed him. This does not mean that all of
his right answers were the correct final answer. The correct
final answer is God. If we have moved toward Him then we have
done right, but if we have stopped with that knowledge are we
not now doing wrong? We must continue to grow for as long as we
have time. To do otherwise without regard to our past successes
is to stagnate and die.

Lots of men of God throughout the centuries have received Truth
from God and shared it with people. God has always used men to
work with men. I don't regularly read a devotional as such, but
occasionally I pick up Oswald Chamber's "My Utmost For His
Highest" and read several pages. God will use what He will use
to teach us something and what men have written into devotionals
is not an unusual vehicle by any means. My only suggestion for
anyone reading a devotional is to always be certain that it is
not diverging into the some "other gospel" as the Apostle Paul
warned us...
Your book sounds like a good one, Brad!

Some people unfortunately reject anything that comes from
anyplace they consider "too much" in error. I glad to see you
don't let the "cultist" labels some have placed on 7th day
advocates keep you from receiving Truth from them. God is
everywhere and He uses what He uses to speak His Truth to open
hearts.

[/quote] Reading the cliff notes of someone else rarely tells
you the whole story. Having just been on day 4 so far, I have
found nothing wrong at all with it. Its easy to judge others
based on what someone else says good or bad, but only those with
wisdom can see the truth in something, if its there.

Thanks John, I hope its great, but I am always sure that
whenever man gets involved too much, error falls in, but I look
forward to the reading.
