Fulfilment of prophecy
By: Pat Date: March 3, 2016, 3:52 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Today I read a devotional in my ‘Welcome Holy Spirit’ book which
points out that what the prophets spoke of in the bible came
true; prophetic words to the mighty nations were fulfilled. The
writer then goes on to point out that if God can see the end
from the beginning of such great events then we should be able
to trust him to see the end from the beginning in our own lives,
and to work out the plans he has for us to serve his purposes.
If we receive a word of prophecy we should expect it to be
fulfilled; no matter how long it may take we should trust God to
carry it through.

Thanks Pat- that was a bit of a kick for me - God gave me words
of prophecy many years ago and I see no way of it coming to
fulfillment at the moment - I keep losing hope - its been about
15years since the words were given to me and a something else
that was made clear to me some years later, not linked, just
seems impossible- I often get to the point of questioning if I
heard right, if I did then I can trust in that inner voice of
the Holy Spirit, If I didn't then that voice that has guided me
so much is deception. Its almost as if I am waiting for proof
that it is not the latter !! xx

I see truth as authority - not authority as truth, meaning
however mighty the person who gives a word directly from God
then the fulfilment is the truth of it. If it is not fulfilled
then it is a lie from a false prophet or they were simply
mistaken at hearing.
It is never God's fault for not fulfilling mans words - God's
words will always be fulfilled

There are many prophecies in the scriptures that took many years
to be fulfilled. Think of all the ones about Jesus and on a
more personal level the one God made to Abraham about being the
father of a nation. How long did he have to wait for Isaac?

The word of God will come to pass but that
does not mean that you will always be the one by which it is
brought to pass.
If we take the children of Israel who were given a word of
prophesy by Moses they did not fulfil the word of God but the
word was fulfilled in their children because those who heard the
words of prophesy did not have the faith with which to mix the
hearing. Take a look at Hebrews for confirmation of this.
One must hear with ears of faith, for not even the Lord will
force you to go along the path he desires for you, that is part
of our fee choice.

Depends if it is a personal prophecy or not. What was
prophesied to Abraham was personal and he saw the beginning even
though he didn't see the end. I have had personal prophecies
some of which have been fulfilled and some for which I am still
waiting.

I don't believe that is true Pat, neither
does the Bible bare out a difference between "personal" prophesy
and whatever other kind you are thinking of Pat.
I Cor 14:3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to
edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
This is what the bible says, not me, from my reading it tells me
that all prophesy is personal, since it is delivered to men (you
and me) as well as telling me how to prove the word given.
Does it edify does it comfort does it exhort mankind? If it
does not do any of these then it is a carnal spirit and not to
be believed.
In this way the bible makes it so easy to keep yourself safe
from false prophets.

Ah Pat I see I have hit a raw nerve by
letting you know that what you think is not what the bible says.
I used the expression "I don't believe " as I thought it might
be more acceptable than. Pat you are wrong the bible does not
agree with 'what you think'.
I shall be careful in future not to interrupt your thinking.

If God says something to me personally, either directly or
through someone else or both then I am going to believe it and
have faith that it will be fulfilled at the appointed time.
