Put on.
By: James Date: August 13, 2015, 2:06 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after
the image of him that created him:
The need to be renewed in knowledge, note it is not by
knowledge. The knowledge we have is flawed and therefore our
knowledge needs to be renewed and that must come via the one who
created the new man.
It goes on to say that such knowledge teaches that there is no
Jew or Gentile, no bond or free for Christ is all in all.
In his one body there are no Chiefs and Indians for all must
supply to the building up of his glorious body. We must put on
mercies and humbleness of mind, we must clothe ourselves with
the new man. We must be renewed in the spirit of our mind Ep
4:23 humility required to let go of what we are so sure we know,
what we are so sure we "have got right". Only by being humble
and ready to admit that "we are but dust" can we ever hope to
grow up into the head which is Christ. Even as the outward man
fades away the man of God within is renewed daily 2 Cor 4:16.
Our knowledge of God is limited, yet like Moses that which we
see, though it be only the unclear outline of his back we will
in Joy and reverence worship.

Good thought James; renewed in knowledge not by; I liked that;
it was the "put on bit" I looked at; Strong's says "to sink into
a garment" as "man" is not in some originals; it can read; "and
having put on the new that being renewed in full knowledge
according to the image of Him who created him" Interlinear; so
we have to put off and then sink into the new; the old is
maintained by knowledge; the new is to take us into the full
knowledge of this new creation man; that sounds good but getting
past the old; isn't that easy it seems; that list in Coll 3 is
quite formidible; I wish it was a one shot deal.
