       The Glory Of The Tests

"The revelation awaits an appointed time....Though it linger,
wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."
       (Habakkuk 2:3)
In the captivating booklet Expectation Corner, one of the
       characters,Adam
Slowman, was led into the Lord’s treasure-house.
Among the many wonders revealed to him there was the
“Delayed Blessing Office,”where God stored the answers to
       certain
prayers until it was wise to send them.
For some who pray expecting an answer,it takes a long time
to learn that delays of answers are not denials. In fact, in the
“Delayed Blessing Office,” there are deep secrets of love and
wisdom that we have never imagined!
We tend to want to pick our blessings from the tree while they
       are still green, yet God
wants us to wait until they are fully ripe.
“The Lord longs to be gracious to you. . . .Blessed are all who
wait for him!” (Isa. 30:18). The Lord watches over us in all
       the
difficult places, and He will not allow even one trial that is
       too
much for us. He will use His refining fire to burn away our
impurities and will then gloriously come to our rescue.
Do not grieve Him by doubting His love. Instead, lift up your
eyes and begin praising Him right now for the deliverance that
is on its way to you. Then you will be abundantly rewarded for
the delay that has tried your faith.
       O you of little faith,
God has not failed you yet!
When all looks dark and gloomy,
       You do so soon forget—
Forget that He has led you,
       And gently cleared your way;
On clouds has poured His sunshine,
And turned your night to day.
And if He’s helped you to this point,
       He will not fail you now;
How it must wound His loving heart
       To see your anxious brow!
       Oh! doubt not any longer,
       To Him commit your way,
Whom in the past you trusted,
And is just the same today.
       Anon.

Every person and every nation must endure lessons in God’s
school of adversity. In the same way we say,“Blessed is the
       night,
for it reveals the stars to us,” we can say,“Blessed is sorrow,
       for
       it reveals God’s comfort.”
A flood once washed away a poor man’s home and mill, taking with
it everything he owned in the world. He stood at the scene of
       his great loss,brokenhearted and discouraged.
Yet after the waters had subsided,he saw something shining in
the riverbanks that the flood had washed bare.“It looks like
gold,” he said. And it was gold.
The storm that had impoverished him made him rich. So it is
       oftentimes in life.

Count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations knowing
this, the trial of your faith works patience.
It is all joy if it is in fact divers tests, for who wants to be
tested over and over again on the same subject thus proving we
have not yet learnt our lessons. Neither have we become skilled
in the art of warfare and become wise to all our enemies wiles.
If you are in "the test," but it is a new test, rejoice, you
must have passed the last test, remember the Lord tests our
strength, the enemy tries our weakness.

I got hold of a copy of ' expectation corner ' - its very good
After a weekend of ' hearing ' I went straight into the
classroom at work ( its been a horrible week- worldly
       expectation verses God expectations )
I am not entirely sure what God is teaching me within the
situation right now - I would value prayer xx

This is not a direct reply to you rita, I read this and copied
it meaning to add it to this thread. Then when I came here found
       your post.
I ask myself how did these men and women of old have such a
solid grip on the things of God, whereas I slide about and am up
one day and down the next. Lord hold my hand for I sometimes
feel it slipping out of yours!
       A devotion by Spurgon.
       MORNING
“We know that all things work together for good to them that
       love God.”
       - Romans 8:28
Upon some points a believer is absolutely sure. He knows, for
instance, that God sits in the stern-sheets of the vessel when
it rocks most. He believes that an invisible hand is always on
the world’s tiller, and that wherever providence may drift,
Jehovah steers it. That re-assuring knowledge prepares him for
everything. He looks over the raging waters and sees the spirit
of Jesus treading the billows, and he hears a voice saying, “It
is I, be not afraid.” He knows too that God is always wise, and,
knowing this, he is confident that there can be no accidents, no
mistakes; that nothing can occur which ought not to arise. He
can say, “If I should lose all I have, it is better that I
should lose than have, if God so wills: the worst calamity is
the wisest and the kindest thing that could befall to me if God
ordains it.” “We know that all things work together for good to
them that love God.” The Christian does not merely hold this as
a theory, but he knows it as a matter of fact. Everything has
worked for good as yet; the poisonous drugs mixed in fit
proportions have worked the cure; the sharp cuts of the lancet
have cleansed out the proud flesh and facilitated the healing.
Every event as yet has worked out the most divinely blessed
results; and so, believing that God rules all, that he governs
wisely, that he brings good out of evil, the believer’s heart is
assured, and he is enabled calmly to meet each trial as it
comes. The believer can in the spirit of true resignation pray,
       “Send me what thou wilt, my God, so long as it comes from thee;
never came there an ill portion from thy table to any of thy

Hi James- I totally get romans 8:28 - totally believe it too
----and yet, I slip and slide as well. I have no doubts God will
bring good out of what we all face , its the knowing whether
something is a lesson to learn, attack to battle and what should
be my involvement within the equation, when I should act, when I
       should remain silent.
For me, aside from work, I know that God is allowing my
financial foundation to be rocked - I do not like it because I
am the only earner and I have lost any help from the state ( it
was only a small amount a week - but it helped ) I only earn
       7.30 an hour - ( 11,000 a year ) its unsettling me - I have had
one higher bill and unexpected expences ever since I agree to
the cyprus holiday - so I kind of get what God is doing, I think
I am personally not surrendering my will to his - is that called
sulking !!!!! LOL ( the problems arose at work after the
financial things started happening- its all coming at once ! )

What a blessing prayer is. It is so good to know that we can and
are praying for one another. It seems that everyoine I know
right now is fighting some kind of challenge..no one is exempt!!
I just don't remember it being like this a decade ago. Back
then everyone knew what was going on, and everyone was strong
       and confident of victory.
Our Father is for sure allowing His people to be tested and
tried...one could begin to think that 'a great battle' was up
ahead and He needs a strong people that know that "having done
       all...they can stand.."
I think it is a case of " Let us go on to
       perfection"/completness.
These are for sure, very 'different' days.
Thanks for those posts...praying for all of us who are "fighting
the good fight of faith...and laying hold of eternal life..". x
