I must try and get this locked down.
When the Dalai Lama was asked what surprised him most about
humanity. He said Man! Because man sacrifices his health to
make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
Then he is so anxious about his future that he does not enjoy
the present., the result being; that he does not live in the
present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die,
then he dies without really having 'lived" at all.
I thought they were wise words, and a time to 'pause , check,
and think'.
And NO, I am not "into" Eastern religion LOL
I just read it on Facebook and thought it wisdom. :D
Helen:
And NO, I am not "into" Eastern religion LOL
Often I have heard this in the conversations of people with
regard to "Eastern religion" as if all that they (the followers
of such religion) were very wrong. Actually, without having been
a deep student in such religion, I believe that God has worked
through and does work through all religions in a measure to
accomplish His purposes. Is this then true even of the worst of
groups people can imagine? Yes, but even of the very best ones
they can imagine or believe in... Is this not what God wants
each of us to seek and to find? Jesus for those of us who have
come to know him in part seems to us to be in his perfection to
be that place that God wants us to seek to find?
Why would we presume that other people, especially those not
born into societies with strong Christian influences (but not
only them), that God would not use what people have regular
access to in order to move or be moved toward that which He
desires for "whosoever will"?
You spoke of the Dalai Lama with guarded or defensive words, not
because you need or desire to guard against God, but against
men. We all do that at time, don't we? Perhaps that is one of
the things we need to get past in order to move rightly
according to God...

I'm surprised for a wise man that he was surprised; hu"man"ity
is made up of man; and his observation of man without Jesus is
true; man has not lived; but then came Jesus to a religion; He
was a truly wise man with words of eternal life but religion
rejected him and His cross but God never gives up; He opened the
way "for the whosoever" and His teachings were how to live in
today; "take no thought for tomorrow" is a hard saying; and God
who can do all things is able to use all things for His purpose
for hu"man"ity; the Dali's concept is the wheel of a rich man
and the hope of a poor man.

Good posts Amadeus and Dave...thanks.
John, you are so right...I shouldn't have second guessed myself
:D
I moved on from here, then thought...Oh dear, what is something
thinks I have 'moved over' haha!!
I also thought Gandhi was a very wise man...I like much of what
he said...because it was true. He hit the nail on the head.
I think I second-guessed myself and added the last line as a PS,
because I have seen so many solid ( seemingly for YEARS)
Christians go off the rails and change horses as it were..a few
into New Age..one even saying he no longer believe in God..so I
wrote the last line " Just in case" anyone was wondering..haha!!

God really does speak to people, but sometimes we (the people)
get so wrapped up in worldly concerns that we lose our
discernment. Too many preachers and other apparent followers of
Christ who preaching and teaching a different message than that
of Jesus. We must come to recognize his voice always and proceed
accordingly.

internet service and before that we were in the Lake District..
we have a lot of dealing with my wifes mothers palliative
care..(days remaining) I have two jobs and attending as a trader
at motorshows at the weekend (Newark autojumble yesterday
Sunday). We are trying to keep up our walking as exercise too.
The brain is frazzled.

Ivor been there done that!
For more years than I care to remember we travelled the length
and breath of England visiting flower shows. Chelsea, Hampton
Court, Southport, the R.H.S Halls at Vincent square and all
those between. The idea was to exhibit our wares by a Display
Garden, sell some product, distribute leaflets and our garden
catalogue and wave the flag in general for our business.
The some total of around 20 years was zero since the cost of
travel and accommodation for show duration out weighted the
money taken on site and by mail order.
We would have sold less by not going but also spent less in the
first place. I ask myself why did it take 20 years to decide it
was a waste of time?
