Last night Ray's recorder automatically taped a programme about
a British magician called Dynamo. He was in New York performing
absolutely incredible 'tricks'. In one at a magazine stand he
made the time on a picture of a watch in a magazine change times
and in another he told a whole crowd who had gathered round him
at a funfair to get out their mobile phones and hold them up and
they all rang simultaneously. And in yet another he took an
empty cup and held in underneath a café table whilst the
contents of a full cup on top of the table were transferred to
the empty one. There were other things too but I only saw half
the show. It was unbelievable. I don't know when it was on TV
coz like I said it had recorded. Did you see it, or have you
heard of him?

i've seen him.. he has some very clever tricks, many are a
modern slant on old well known tricks but the principles are the
same.. the first question is who is in on the trick?.........
and often its all of them. The second is what is the viewing
angle and why ? especially if its on a recording ask why not use
2 cameras?

Hi Pat,
Dan use to watch his programs all the time, so I watched a few.
There were some things he did that were amazing- he once had an
empty bucket in front of some children jerusalem ( i think ! )
and without any understanding he made the bucket fill with fish
- I have no idea how he does some of his tricks, very clever.

I'd never seen him before or even heard of him till last night
but I have never seen anything so weird.

The fish one is old hat and often done in poor counties that
speak a different language. They collect a group of excited
youngsters who have no understanding of English and tell them
that they will create fish. Hold an empty bucket above their
head and then exchange it for one full of fish usually their
local food. They then scatter the fish from the bucket and the
children get all excited collecting free food. An assistant then
exchanges the full bucket over and over again.
They cut out the exchange on film and it appears that hundreds
of fish have appeared from an empty bucket
It's no different to a music video where a lady walks down the
road and her dress keeps changing, we know it's the same walk in
ten different dresses and they cut and splice the film
afterwards
