Eva's(grandma dolittle) place

My grandson went home last night and I miss him already. He is
seventeen and lives in Texas, so I don't get to see him too
often. this is hard for me because since he was two weeks old,
he has spent the weekends with Grandma. He moved six months ago
and I told my daughter that I was going into withdrawals and I
needed my grandson fix. So I got a month fix. I have had a
houseful of kids non stop since Christmas vacation started and
while I have loved having them, I am a person that needs alone
time. I had all day yesterday alone and it was wonderful! Now,
maybe I can have time to just devote to God.

Oh good, glad to see you started a Blog. I have 'stickified' it
so it wont get buried under other posts. :)
I know what you mean about grandchildren...there is just
something special about them.I used to have two of mine every
Friday from about 10am -4pm, did it from about age 2 to age
15...13 years in all!!! ( they were homeschooled, so I taught
them art, dance and sewing etc when they were older. )
One gets very 'bonded' eh? It's seems a totally different
relationship than with ones own children...a different kind of
closeness.
I loved the message I saw on the back of a car once. " If I knew
that grandchildren were this much fun, I would have had them
first!!" haha!!
They are now 24 and 25 and get their own back by bossing me
around now ;D Fun.
How long did your ribs take to heal that time you fell last
summer/Fall?
I fell on Christmas Eve...they are still painful...more aching
now than sharp pain. So sorry to hear the news about your
hip..how painful!!. Did that happen at the same time as the
other fall? Or did you fall again?
Prayers winging your way..
Lovely to have you here, and read your updates. :) x

My grandkids range in age from 25 to 7 with four more somewhere
in the middle. As a mum I don't have a favourite child but I do
have favourite grandkids. George is my number one fave and is
16 and next Aiee who is 18. I love all of them but these are
the special ones, probably because I spent most time with them
when they were little.

Helen& Pat,
I tell my kids that grandchildren is the reason I let them live.
They just laugh at me because I am always threatening their next
birthday!;D My grandson Shane is very special to me. Like I said
I have had him every week-end since he was two weeks old and
loved every minute of it. My two granddaughters were always at
their other grandma's and I didn't get to have them much. My two
oldest grandsons, I adopted when they were 14 months 2 1/2 years
old. They are now 26 and 28. These two are very, very special to
me. I am both grandma and mom at the same time.
Today has been busy. I have stripped my beds and put my sheets
on the line to dry; I made a stab at cleaning DJ's room; went to
town; and now I am exhausted and hurting. Tomorrow I see the
doctor to see if my hip is fractured or not.

Lets be praying that you have a really good report from the
doctor tomorrow...a miracle of a report!
You must have a high pain tolerance to have done everything that
you did today..and STILL be standing strong. I have heard that
they breed them tough down there..You are living proof. Haha!!
:D
Blessings for tomorrow...H

Like Helen says you sound like a real tough cookie. Me, I'm
more of a crumbly biscuit.

Being a man (need to get that in first) I always say that it is
easy for women since God made them for child bearing so they are
used to a little pain ;)
Praying for you!

A little pain??? James, you have no idea!! The best part is the
built in delete in the memory when it comes to remembering the
pain. I know I had never felt pain like that before and I know
I hurt, but I don't remember the pain. Something about holding
your baby for the first time wipes away the memory. Even more
astounding... I didn't even think about the pain when I got
pregnant with my second baby. All I could feel was excitement at
the thought of having a baby!
It is something like shooting yourself in the foot and two
years later... would you deliberately shoot yourself in the foot
again and be excited about it????? The difference is God wipes
away the memory of the birth pain. Plus, our pain was worth
it... do you think yours would be?
Have you ever been ill or in pain and the day of the doctor
visit, you feel fine? Well, this morning I feel fine. I had a
good night's sleep and am well rested. The down side is I
haven't done anything yet this morning :P
Helen, I made up my mind some time ago that I would not let the
pain of my back or fibromylgia rule my life. It will always be
with me and will hurt if I do nothing... so why let it stop me
from doing as I want. Right now I am writing a sequel to
Princess of Umpapa, plus a couple I need to get in the computer;
I am secretary for our history club; I am editing a book with a
couple more to edit. My best friend started a small publishing
company and she is promoting local authors. We already have
three to do and more coming. I didn't know that we had so many!
I love history, so this is just down my alley! ;D

I pray your book flows like a river Eva..and you get blessed
with inspiration :)
As for James...you ladies are far too gracious, ....my thoughts
were far more aggressive than that when I read your post James!!
:o
I say consider yourself kicked James, by myself, your wife, Eva,
Pat, Rita, Cathey, Laurie and all the other women on this
site!!!
I wish I was able like Pat to post pictures, I have never
learned how.
I have a picture/drawing, so not graphic..of a baby being
born...it says:-
"A human body can bear only up to 45 del (units) of pain. Yet at
the time of giving birth a mother feels up to 57 del ( units) of
pain. This is similar to 20 bones being fractured at the same
time." As Eva said, having a baby has a reason behind it, and
" joy comes in the morning" A broken hip or a broken rib is
just the same for both sexes...birthing is usually over by 4 -
16 hours, more than that would probably kill us. ( and did a 100
years ago)
Sending many prayers and blessings Eva.
Don't worry James, we forgive you, a typical man's erroneous
point of view. :P
