That old song came back to me as I looked around the forum and
saw that no one had posted for a couple of days. All gone? All
       flown away?
It has been years since I belonged to an assembly where they
taught that the Church would be raptured or caught away to avoid
pain and suffering to us. Nevertheless I always liked the song.
Here is the verse people usually cite when confirming their
       belief in such a rapture:
"Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so
shall we ever be with the Lord." I Thess 4:17
Does anyone here believe in a rapture of this sort? In addition
to the verse I quoted why would you?

You have lost me with this statement as it might pertain to you.
You are not concerned about being banned from this forum are
you? I believe that only James could do that and he is a far cry
from what you saw in the moderators on CB. If it is something
       else, please explain.

I do not have a particular view of the last days as a separate
period of time when things get very bad. While it may happen in
this natural society, what can it matter to a child of God, if
he is a child of God? Pain and suffering in our flesh? Who would
expect to suffer more pain than Jesus did in the physical? Why
should any of us, on the other hand expect to suffer less than
       Jesus did by escaping early?
Each of us has his appointed period of time to use with the
tools available to accomplish what he will. He will please God
or he will not. For me, I see it as being important to run the
       entire race. No shortcuts.
If we had been Jews in Nazi Germany, would things have been
better for us then than they would now in some more modern
holocaust? No, don't pretend to be able to answer such a
question correctly. Why even consider it? But someone, I
believe, did when they came up with the idea of an early escape.
Am I wrong? Does it matter so long as I stay on the Lord's side
to the end of my course?
Look to Jesus always... and give God the glory no matter what is
to come our way. It may be something similar to the chariot for
Elijah or the crushing rocks for Stephen. Do we really believe
we can say that ours will be according the fate of Elijah rather
       than that of Stephen?
There are also thousands of denominations using effectively the
same scriptures to support their very different beliefs. We all
are to live by faith. Only God has all of the knowledge and
knows it. Does any one of us have all knowledge?

Should we not strive to be prepared for whatever is set before
us... even if it should happen to be different than some idea,
such as a rapture, we may have had in our minds?
The physical life is only important, I believe, as a part of our
stewardship. Everyone goes through his stewardship in order to
earn his penny. The penny is paid at the end of the day. Who is
predicting an early out... when most others are working until
       the sun sets?
"I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the
night cometh, when no man can work" John 9:4
Some say something like this: a person gets old physically and
someday dies but he will be resurrected.
Is that speaking of the old flesh being resurrected or of the
resurrection occurring within believers with the spiritual
       rebirth?
Who is in the air already with Jesus? What if it is only those
who overcome the ways of man, the ways of death, completely,
before the dirt is thrown over their faces?
Then if they got there (with Jesus in the air) by a "rapture",
then anyone who was serving the Lord, moving toward God, but had
not yet fully completely overcome man's ways leading into sin
would be where but here below still facing whatever he needed to
       face until the end...
Jesus overcame His world. I believe that He provided us the
means to overcome ours. Should not this be more of a concern to
us than somehow escaping the pain and suffering before us as a
physical man? Should we bypass what God has prepared for us...
even if it involves suffering and pain?

What then is all this about?
As Jesus sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto
him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and
what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the
world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no
man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am
Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and
rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these
things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation
shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and
there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in
divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then
shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you:
and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And
then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and
shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and
shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love
of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end,
the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be
preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and
then shall the end come. When ye therefore shall see the
abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet,
stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand)
Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let
him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out
of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back
to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and
to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your
flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For
then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the
beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And
except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be
saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or
there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and
false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch
that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto
you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in
the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh
out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also
the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is,
there will the eagles be gathered together. Immediately after
the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the
moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from
heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. And then
shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then
shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the
Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great
glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a
trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four
winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn a parable
of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth
forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when
ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the
doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass,
till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass
away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour
knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father
only. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of
the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood
they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage,
until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until
the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming
of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one
shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding
at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch
therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But
know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what
watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not
have suffered his house to be broken up.
       Therefore be ye
also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man
       cometh.

To me it is all in the warning When ye therefore shall see the
abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet,
stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
I see this as when the anti-Christ steps into the temple in
Jerusalem therefore a Holy Place requires building in Jerusalem
or at least the most important part of it requires being erected
"the Most Holy tent" that the original temple was built for.
This part could be erected in a single day

       @Mike
What you posted was a question and your selection from scripture
with no comment. What I was looking for was someone's idea as
to why there would or would not be what people call a rapture.
It may be there, but so might some other explanations. What
would yours be in your own words if you have one? If you don't,
       no problem.
