What if

What if we focused on presence more than performance; on
welcoming the King, instead of doing our churchy thing; on
following His voice, more than following the set list....? ...
maybe, just maybe, we’d find churches full of glory instead of
powerless programmes! Oh for a generation soooo dissatisfied
with religion, we forsake all else for the immeasurable
outpouring our Jesus longs to send! Someone, somewhere, let your
longing take over!

The rich fool thought that his store houses
were the ones on earth, as far as he was concerned they were not
large enough and needed to be rebuilt. Lo he was not rich to God
and neglected his soul. The storehouse will not be found on
earth as such.
Jesus said "I was sick and you came to me, in prison and you
visited me". The reply was when did we do these things. "as much
as you did it unto one of these little ones you did it unto me".
Our store house is all around us, we must invest our abilities
and talents, our time and finance in those we meet in life. For
when the accounting is done the Lord will acknowledge those who
stored up in him while walking through this "Present evil world"
Gal 1:4
not a bad perspective imo, but i suggest that a rich
guy's (personal, only for him) "storehouse" could be contrasted
with maybe Catholic Charities, or even a local food bank or
pantry? Tho i like your perspective there also :)
um, @ "immeasurable outpouring," maybe (esp with a side
of "forsake all else"); it just minded me of you will not be
able to hold it all. But that is admittedly "performance," you
might Quote us a Passage closer to what you had in mind?

If we do as your quote says “let your
longing take over”. Then we shall give up our own will and
follow him. We will not continue in this sudo Christianity that
characteristics the life of today’s believer. What we see today
is those that name Jesus but live for self, pouring all that
they are into self. With a constant desire to look to ones own
survival. Jesus said “ lay up treasure in heaven where moth and
rust do not corrupt”. If we die to self and seek to place
treasure in heaven then we need to know how to place all that we
are and could be on the altar just like Abraham offering up the
child Isaac within who lay all the hopes and blessing for
mankind. All the promises of God have to be surrendered to him
placed in the bank of God for redemption in the “day of the
Lord”. When our “corrupt bodies will put on incorruption and
death will be swallowed up in victory” 1Cor 15:54
