       Tender roadname change rescreening
       By: Rich330P4 Date: April 11, 2020, 6:01 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Hello, first post here.
I'm interested in purchasing a MPC era Berkshire to go along
with my MPC 8600 NYC Hudson. The electronic chug sound didn't
       work I really didn't care as I wanted a air whistle. I found a
very nice complete 2046w frame and a PW air whistle which I
cleaned and oiled. Works great than dremmel out the baffle wall
and trimmed the two post on my streamlined tender shell.
Now for my question about the MPC Berkshire
I want to know what type tender that are supplied, some are like
the streamlined one in my NYC Hudson the others have some grab
       railing.
What length is that, would another 2046w frame fit.
       And the MOST important question
Can anybody recommend someone that does rescreening of the
roadname. I want remarked to the yellow ERIE logo.
       Thanks

Hello & Welcome to the Forum!
Your MPC era Berkshire would have been paired with a Lionel 736W
       whisteling tender.
Earlier Berkshires were paired with a Lionel 2046W whisteling
       tender.
I imagine either would be just fine, unless you are a rivet
       counter.
As for replacement roadname, you will have better luck finding
       decals rather than silk screening.

A note on the MPC era whisteling tenders.
It is wise to replace the insulating foam underneath the sound
       board in the tender.
Because of aging the foam will deteriorate and allow the board
to short out on the frame.
This can be the cause of non working whisteling tenders.
I cut a piece from an egg carton top to replace the worn out
foam in the one l had, it worked perfectly.
       Happy Rails!
