"Gimme Shelter"

"Gimme Shelter" It's not just a Rolling Stones song. We all
need to stay warm and dry for opitmal health. Getting caught in
the rain is no big deal if it is for a short period of time and
the temperature outside is warm. Any temperature less than 98.6
degrees can be linked to hypothermia. You can die in 70 degree
weather if it is raining and windy and you are caught without
shelter for a prolonged time. Staying "High and Dry" is what it
is all about. Shelter can be as simple as an insulated rain
suit, to as complicated as the International Space Station.
When you think of your shelter needs think about two main
points. Will it keep me warm? Will it keep me dry? A tent and
a sleeping bag, a lean-to and a bed of pine needles or a
hexayurt and a propane heater are only some of the combinations
that come to mind. It is more important than food so make sure
you have this covered and then work on a backup system.
