[center][sup][font=georgia]This was just a helpful guide for
people who were confused on animal sounds and what they mean. I
put only the main animals in the game and such C:
I'd love to hear your feedback !!
DOMESTIC CATS & & WILDCATS
• Meowing - Cats meow usually when they want something that they
are incapable of getting. It's also a way of communication
between two cats.
• Purring - Cats purr for a number of different reasons. They
usually purr to express extreme pleasure, but it can also mean
they're in pain or stressed out, but they usually use other
sounds for that.
• Hissing / Yowling - Cats usually hiss to express extreme
displeasure. Such as when cornered by an animal that's larger
than them or when being forced to do something they would prefer
not too.
• Roaring - Only in wildcats and big cats, they roar for a
number of reasons. The most common reason is to establish
territory and to show another intruding cats who's boss.
• Chirping - Usually found in Mountain Lions and Cheetahs when
adults, but they chirp to communicate with their cubs.
• Growling - Cats, big and small, usually growl to show they're
about to attack, or to give a warning that you're in their space
and to back off.
DOMESTIC DOGS & & WOLVES
• Barking - Dogs bark for lots of reasons. It can vary from
expressing joy and pleasure, to warnings of danger.
• Howling - Dogs and Wolves howl mostly to communicate. In the
wild wolves howls don't echo so it doesn't cause confusion of
where they're location is.
• Growling - Dogs and Wolves growl when another dog / wolf
enters their personal space, or does something that displeases
them.
• Dogs / wolves snarl also when showing displeasure. They curl
their lips back and raise their hackles which is a typical
snarl.
IN BETWEEN ANIMALS
[sup]BADGERS & & FOXES[/sup]
BADGERS
• Growling - Badgers growl when engaged in an aggressive
activity, such as fighting with another male or protecting cubs.
Can also be used when an unfamiliar presence enters the area
• Purr - Badgers purr when talking solely to their cubs.
• Wail - Usually made by badger cubs when in distress.
• Chitter - Made by badgers to indicate fear / pain / or
frustration.
• Kecker - A long, single sound related to the Chitter. It's
usually used to represent fear / presence of a threat /
submission
• Yelp - Usually made when in fear or pain
• Snarl - Made when about to launch an attack
• Squeak - Can be made when playing or when a mother and cub are
separated
• Bark - Can be made when being annoyed by annoyed by another
badger.
• Snort - Made when startled or alarmed
• Cluck - Used only when a mother badger is communicating with
her cubs
• Chirp - Made only by cubs.
• Hiss - Made in context with a threat and growling
• Grunt - Made in association with close contact, such as
grooming.
FOXES
• Bark - Used as a way of communication.
• Growl - Foxes don't growl. They don't have the muscles too [c.
Freshy]
• Whine - Foxes whine when showing submission . Fox cubs will
whine to their parents if they are hungry or need attention of
some sort
• Whimper - Whimpers are used mainly among family members and
are used to be soothing or calm cubs down.

[sup][font=georgia]they squeak. c;
rabbits make no sound at all unless grunting or screeching,
showing displeasure of extreme pain.
mice, rats, voles, shrews, etc, squeal and squeak when
communicating or in discomfort or fear.
Not really anything major.
This was mostly for people who had trouble roleplaying larger
animals.[/font][/sup]
