He gave a chuckle. "Thanks." he responded, continuing to drive
as the light turned green. Then he was silent again.

She bit her lip, taking note of the somewhat awkward silence.
She looked down at her lap and smoothed her skirt out.

Heero just paid attention to the road in front of him, not
really feeling the awkwardness looming around. But as he stopped
at another light and looked over at Amilia once more, he noticed
it then, feeling as if she was bored with him or just not
comfortable.
"Is working for the embassy pretty rewarding?" he asked quietly,
pressing forward as the light changed.

Amilia looked up at him and then looked a bit sheepish. "Well,
not on a daily basis, no. But when we are allowed to cater to
the less fortunate, then it is," she explained. "I love cooking
and cuisine, but it feels wasted when all I do is cater to the
rich and politicians." She frowned and then sighed.
"Sorry. I don't mean to talk down on my employers, but it's just
frustrating."

He looked over at her and shook his head. "I know the feeling,
catering to the rich and the politicians. I do it every single
day. And the reward? Maybe a nice meal from a willing host who
enjoys serving the less fortunate." There was a slight smile on
his face as he turned his attention back on the road.

A smile curved her lips as he spoke. "There's no maybe, it's a
definite reward," she replied and looked over at him.

He returned the look and grinned, turning back. "We're here." he
said, pulling into the parking lot. "And since I was so
fortunate to receive a charitable meal, then I'll be happy to
return the favor." He found a parking space and cut the engine.
"Thanks for coming out with me." he told her, glancing over.

He chuckled and opened his door, getting out of the truck. "Wait
here." he told her, and hopped out. It was a moment of silence
and then her door popped open and his hand was held out to her.

She blushed and broke into a grin as she unbuckled, turning to
him. She slipped her hand into his and gripped it as she started
to step down.
