Gundam Wing Post-war AU

Heero stood, posted outside of a large wooden door. Earpiece in
place, and usually a slight mess, his hair properly combed back.
As his position implied, the head bodyguard to the Vice Foreign
Minister, he was dressed in his luxury black suit, white dress
shirt unbuttoned by one at the collar.
He touched his finger to his ear piece and shifted his eyes
around the area. He hummed a slight response and returned his
hand to his lower back.
This had been his place for the past few years now, and it was
something he'd learned to accept and grow comfortable with.

Amilia exited the elevator on the Vice Foreign Minister's floor,
dressed in a white blouse and black skirt with modest heels, and
hair pulled up neatly. She started walking down the hall towards
the meeting suite, wheeling a large cart with covered food
trays. Her security badge and ID were clipped to her breast
pocket. She sighed softly, mentally making note to purchase some
inserts for her shoes after she finished for the night.

Heero's eye caught the opening elevator and his hands twitched
to his hip, a reaction of his younger years, meant for preparing
for the worst. When he saw the woman step out from inside, he
relaxed and put his hand back behind his back. His eyes followed
her with the cart of food as she walked down the hallway. His
stomach grumbled a little and he let out a sigh. Maybe he'd get
something to eat after this meeting was over.

Walking up, Ami stopped in front of the guard posted at the
door, and she held up her badge for him.
"I'm here with the dinners for the Vice Foreign Minister and her
guests," she said to him, taking note of his appearance. She
recognized him after a moment, realizing that he was the gundam
pilot who had saved the Earth not once, but twice, during the
wars many years ago.

He took a step forward and reached out slowly for her badge to
take a better look, careful not to touch her as he did so. He
looked over the image and the name on the badge, cross
referencing all of the information by memory and then released
it and nodded. He stepped sideways and pulled the door open as
his free hand went to his ear piece and he mumbled something
about dinner.
"Go on in, they're expecting you." he told her, holding the door
open.

"Thank you," she replied with a polite smile. She overheard him
slightly, and wondered if he was hungry. She walked in with the
cart and quietly went to the side of the room to start serving.
She placed the trays in front of everyone, removing the lids,
and topped of their waters. After setting out the silverware and
condiments, she left the cart and exited the room. She looked
over at Heero as she closed the door behind herself.
"Long day, huh," she said sympathetically. "There were no orders
past a lights breakfast when I came in this morning."

Heero had settled back to his post next to the door and looked
at the woman as she exited.
"Mm..." was his initial response. "It will be over soon." he
told her, looking at her briefly for a moment and then scanning
the hallway in front of him.

"If you're hungry, I could you bring you up something," she
offered. She wondered if he had even bothered to take any breaks
at all, or if he just stood there the entire time. She moved and
tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

He looked back at her and held his gaze for a moment. He looked
down at his watch and then over to the door.
"It can wait." he muttered, stiffening his stance, looking back
at her one last time for a quick moment before turning his gaze
front and center again.

"Well... the offer will stand," she said lightly, before turning
back to the elevator. When the doors opened, Ami walked in and
pressed the button for the bottom floor. She raised her gaze
back to the man, watching him carefully. He was handsome, rough
around the edges, but she assumed that was from his years of
being a gundam pilot and soldier. She sighed, a a bit envious of
Relena Darlian, now. That man was not just her bodyguard, but
her lover and partner as well. Ami couldn't even remember the
last time she'd had sex, let alone had a partner.
