She looked up as she handed over the money, licking her lips.
"Yeah... Sure," she said with a little smile. "It will have to
be at the arcade. Haka will need to drive me."

"Well, we're closing school for the winter months. It depends on
the snow," she replied. "But... We don't have a phone at home to
use. There's some at the stores on the res though." She took her
receipt from the cashier and started outside.

“So...you’ll call me then? Or...what about Saturday? It’s a week
away...so is it enough time? Or should I wait to hear from you?”
He walked her to the door, opening the way out for her. “I
should get back before Haka changes his mind.”

He looked at her, a bit disappointed but pulled a pen from his
jacket pocket and put his hand out for her receipt. "This is
your last one." He winked.

He nodded. “Indeed.” He smiled and headed for the truck. He got
back only moments after Avery fell asleep against Haka’s
shoulder and climbed into the truck. “Sorry about that, I must
have dropped them when she fell in the store.”
