L'aira's heart pounded in her chest as she listened to him, and
her other hand relaxed it's grip; as her prayer beads fell to
the floor, she found herself pulling her other hand free and
wrapping her arms around his neck. Her eyes closed as she
pressed her lips to his somewhat desperately in the privacy of
the small room where they could not be seen.

He tilted his head, receiving her touch and put his hands on her
hips. He pulled her close to him and returned her kiss, matching
strength for strength, need for need. Before long, an alert came
over the comms. "Captain...I need you at the GM." He pulled back
and sighed heavily. "D*mnit..." he growled, pressing his
forehead to hers and then ran his thumb down her cheek. "We'll
talk more when we dock. You should get some rest..." Without
giving her the opportunity, he turned, walked to the door and
punched the panel, unlocking the door and stepped through the
threshold.

Before she could reply, Garrison was walking out the door and
leaving her be. L'aira drew in a shaky breath and reached down
to pick up her beads, taking a moment to compose herself before
she too walked out of the room on the observation deck. She
decided that he was right, she needed to get some rest. So she
walked out and headed for her living quarters.

Garrison headed up to the GM module, what he came upon was a
simple exploration vessel. He gave the order to keep moving,
they needed to get to the relay before the late hours hit, this
would ensure they arrived on time at the Council. He hated being
late, especially to meet them. They were always so finicky about
attendance.
When he knew the area was clear, he headed to his quarters and
laid upon his bed to rest. He couldn't sleep though, just
thinking about L'aira, it kept him awake.

L'aira took her pills before curling up in her bed and pulling
the blanket over her head. She closed her eyes and before long,
she was falling asleep.
The overnight crew were beginning to wake to take care of the
ship whilst the day crew slept. Like before, it was a long, but
thankfully uneventful night. So the next morning, there wasn't
much to do. Kael woke as usual at 4am, and had his workout
before going to the mess hall for breakfast. He was dressed in
his uniform, his new rank freshly pressed onto his collar. Today
he would start going over some paperwork.

Stef was already on the mess deck. She had a cup of coffee in
front of her, and was reading from the holopad in her hands.
She'd been up through most of the early hours, unable to sleep
more than a few hours. She tapped her finger on the holo,
opening a new window. Her expression wrenched with each article
she read. The war was everywhere. This sentient species was
surrounding the system and piece by piece, tearing it apart. It
wouldn't be long before they would have to face it. She just
wished it wouldn't be soon.

Looking around, Kael found a quiet corner and walked over,
setting his tray down. He began to eat, alone as always. He
tended to keep to himself more than anything. He could have a
temper at times, and if he didn't keep himself in check, he'd
get himself into more trouble than it was worth. He grimaced at
the taste of the food; everything tasted worst in space. It had
to be the atmosphere. He noticed Stef sitting at a table next to
him, then turned his attention back to his food.

Stef closed out her holopad and grabbed her cup of coffee. As
she stood up, she noticed Kael sitting alone, as he usually did.
But he was dressed in a new uniform and dawned the Lieutenant
insignia. She smirked and walked over, standing opposite of him,
she nodded. "Nice deco." she said. "Captain finally made you
part of the crew huh?"

Kael flicked his eyes at her and then back at his food as he
finished his bite. "Yeah," he murmured, taking a drink of water.
"I was surprised."

"Well, it's good to have you on the team, L.T." she grinned.
"I'm heading down for a little sparring practice. If you'd like
to join me, feel free. I could use a challenge." She eyed him in
the uniform as she started to move away from the table.
