Re: Cry For The Dream
By: Havok Date: July 21, 2013, 3:35 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
"I know...tell Heero to call me. I need to go." she spoke
shortly. "Duo...I love you so much."
"O-okay..." Duo whimpered, sounding a little lost as she
announced she had to get off the phone. "I love you too
Michelle...you are my only one..."
"Goodbye-" she squeaked as she hung up her phone and burst into
tears on the couch.
Having finished Luka's bath and putting him down, Trowa came out
to hopefully spend a little time with Michelle. Upon seeing her
in tears, however, he rushed over worriedly. "Micks?? Are you
all right??" he blurted, worry creasing his brow.
She looked up at him, and sobbed. "I-I called Heero to find out
wh-what to do with this p-place when I leave tomorrow. A-and Duo
answered his phone. It just...I-I miss him..." She bit her lip
and thought about who she was talking to. "I-I'm sorry T-Trowa."
She had contact with Heero all along. Trowa blinked silently
then sighed and pulled her into a hug. "It's okay Michelle..."
he murmured.
Michelle curled up to Trowa and sobbed quietly until she fell
asleep.
Meanwhile, Heero was dozing off in the chair right next to Ami's
bed.
The doctor came in and cleared his throat quietly. "Mr. Yuy...we
have your wife's results," her murmured quietly as not to
disturb the sleeping Ami.
Heero sat up straight and nodded. "Is it bad?" he asked first,
wringing his hands together.
The doctor sighed. "She has a tumor pressing against the
behavioral part of her brain...the good news is that it is
operable and with your written consent we can perform the
surgery need to remove it first thing in the morning."
Heero stared at him. "Do it." he responded quickly. "And don't
screw it up." he scowled.
"Of course not sir. We have the best surgeons in the region on
our team." he gave Heero the consent form and after he signed
it, left to go put the orders in.
Heero sighed and watched the Doctor leave. When he did, Heero
leaned back and fell asleep in the chair.
The next morning, the nurses were coming in and preparing Ami
for surgery. She was still sound asleep which made it easier for
them to give her more anesthetic and shave her head for the
surgery.
Duo was awake, as he had been all night. He was in the kitchen
preparing breakfast for the kids, with Faith snoozing on his
chest into one of those slings.
Heero awoke to hear them moving Ami out of the room. He got up
and followed her as far as he could before he ended up being
stuck behind a glass wall with the curtains drawn most of the
way. He stood outside the door, arms folded over his chest and
dropped his head to wait.
Michelle woke up still curled up against Trowa and yawned. She
sat up and looked around. It was only around eight in the
morning, so she got up and started cooking some breakfast.

Trowa remained asleep, that is until he could smell the
breakfast being cooked. He rose up from the couch and yawned,
stretching himself until he heard his back pop. He then wandered
into the kitchen and went to embrace Michelle from behind, but
stopped himself as he remembered that she was in fact going back
to Duo. Instead he came and stood beside her. "Smells great," he
offered with a tired smile.
"Hungry?" she asked, flashing her smile at him. She winked and
went back to cooking.
"Famished." He murmured, leaning against the counter and just
watching her. He wished this could be an every day routine. That
they'd wake up in bed next to each other and share a kiss before
she went to make breakfast and he went to shower. But he knew it
could never be. What hurt the most was being so close, and
having so much to say; now he was watching her walk away from
him.
She smiled and flipped and stirred the eggs. Once they were
done, she put them on a plate, and started some bacon. She then
turned to him and smiled, a sort of smile that would have told
him that she didn't want to do what she was doing. She put the
spatula down and wrapped her arms around his waist and rested
her head on his chest.
Trowa closed his eyes and held her tightly, resting his chin
atop her head. "Say the word and we won't leave.." he whispered
huskily, holding her closer. "We can live here...be a
family...and I'd never hurt you..."
She sighed heavily. "I need to at least try to see if we can fix
our marriage. I've already told Duo I was coming home..." She
pulled back and looked up at him. "I have to at least give that
much to my kids. They have to know that we did everything we
could to make things better. Whether they do or they don't. They
need that much."
"Okay..." he whispered heavily, looking at her with a weak
smile.
Breakfast and lunch went by rather fast. Right after lunch and
the kids were fed, Michelle started on packing her things up.
The kids played in the living room while she packed and as soon
as she finished, she and Trowa lugged everything out to the taxi
they called to take them to the spaceport. She loaded all the
kids up in the taxi and they headed out. After the spaceport,
Michelle bought their tickets and they waited for the next
shuttle to arrive to take them back home.
Trowa was his usual silent self, but with the exception of
holding onto Michelle's hand and rubbing his thumb over the back
of it. He watched the kids as they chattered and played amongst
themselves. He was so engrossed that when the shuttle boarding
was called, it took him a moment to collect himself.
It was at this time that Ami was coming out of surgery and
headed to recovery. The surgeon came out and removed his mask,
walking up to Heero. "Mr. Yuy, the tumor extraction was a huge
success. We left no traces behind, and your wife's behavior
should be returning to normal once she wakes up.
"Michelle grabbed the kids and all of their carry-on luggage and
started for the gate. She held tight to Trowa's hand, knowing
that once they got off the ship at the station below, she would
belong to Duo again. "Trowa?" she whispered, and looked at him
with an idea. She knew it was a terrible one, and he probably
wouldn't agree to it seeing as she told him she needed to try to
make it with Duo.
Heero stood at the surgeon came out and his wrung his hands
together slightly. He sighed a bit to hear the news and nodded.
"When can I go in?" he asked.
"What is it?" Trowa murmured softly in response as they boarded
the shuttle.
The surgeon smiled. "You can join her in recovery as long as
you're quiet. When we have a room ready for her, we'll come
transfer you right away."
She swallowed hard and sighed. "What if I didn't tell Heero
about that apartment? And I take over paying it. You and I-we
could-well maybe we could come up here." her voice was cutting
out into whispers as she spoke to him, nervousness setting in.
'If Duo found out, we'd surely be done. But he'd never have to
know right?' she was trying to convince herself that everything
would be okay, and she'd still be able to have them both. She
hated losing either one.
Heero nodded and thanked him, then headed for recovery. He found
Ami there and pulled a chair up beside her bed and grabbed her
hand. The look of all the bandages on her head were painful to
see. He never liked seeing her this way.
Trowa stared at Michelle after her proposal. He let it sink in
and carefully began weighing his options. He'd be sneaking
behind a comrade's back with his wife. He could still see
Michelle, but it'd have to remain a secret...a very serious
affair. This weighed heavily on his heart as he thought. He'd
always done the right thing, but... "Okay," he whispered. With
this plan of hers, he couldn't really call her his...but he
wouldn't be losing her completely either.
Michelle sat next to her kids on the craft, and held Trowa's
hand tight. She never wanted to let him go, and she knew she was
wrong in everything she was doing, and planning to do. She
looked at him, tears starting in her eyes. She'd be leaving him
heartbroken again as soon as they landed. "Are you sure?" she
asked after a few moments when the shuttle started for take off.
"I know how you have always felt about going behind Duo's back.
You were the one in the first place who talked me into telling
him...a time I'll never forget..." her tears ran now, soaking
her cheeks as she swallowed hard, trying to continue talking but
unable to.
Trowa squeezed her hand, controlling his trembling as he sat
beside her. "I'm sure..." he whispered again. "Please don't cry
Michelle..it's going to be all right..."

She turned to him, her eyes turning red and buried her face in
his shoulder. "I don't know how any of this is going to turn
out. I don't want to turn to you as a rebound if it doesn't work
out with Duo...if it actually goes through to getting a
divorce."
The former pilot of Heavyarms said nothing and wrapped his arm
around her waist, holding her close. He pressed his cheek
against her hair and closed his eyes, trying to savor what
little time they had left.
Heero had been sitting in recovery for over two hours next to
Ami, waiting and waiting for her to wake up. He was getting
worried, until he dropped his head to her side and closed his
eyes dozing off for another hour. He was desperately wanting her
to wake up.
Michelle awoke when the shuttle made a loud hissing sound and
finally docked with the earth side station. An announcement came
over the intercom informing the passengers of their arrival and
to have a safe day. Michelle immediately burst into tears, and
tightly squeezed Trowa's hand.
It was then Ami groaned quietly and she began to stir in her
hospital bed. "H...Heero?..." she mumbled groggily.
It took Trowa all he had in him not to dissolve into tears
himself. He shushed Michelle quietly and pulled his hand away to
brush away the tears cascading down her cheeks. "It's gonna be
okay..." he whispered reassuringly. "We'll back up on L3 in no
time..."
She took a deep breath and looked at him, then quickly wiped
away her tears and looked at her children. She heaved a broken
sigh and looked back at Trowa. "I'm ready..." she whispered, and
stood up as their part of the shuttle started filing off. She
took Luka in her arms and took Citty's hand, as she took Dj's
hand. They all filed off the shuttle and went to claim their
belongings. After Michelle had retrieved all of their luggage
she looked at Trowa, her eyes no longer sad, but a smile on her
face. It was forced, trying to keep him from hurting as much as
she was. She had absolutely no thoughts about him at this
moment. She tried her best to block every single idea and focus
on what was going on. "Luka, tell your daddy 'bye-bye'." she
spoke, leaning her son into Trowa's so he could say his goodbyes
and they could all be on their way. As she did this, Dj watched
and smiled running over and hugging Trowa's leg. "Bye daddy!"
the toddler blurted. Michelle flushed and laughed nervously.
Heero awoke quickly and lifted his head. "Ami..." he whispered
hoarsely. He squeezed her hand and a smile formed across his
face.
Trowa kissed Luka's hair and ruffled Dj's as the toddler hugged
his legs, chuckling weakly as he called him 'Daddy'. "Bye
guys..." he murmured. He placed a kiss on Michelle's forehead
then slung his duffel bag over his should and walked off. As he
walked, he accidentally bumped shoulders with someone. "Sorry."
he muttered, continuing on his way.
Duo stood there, fists clenched as he watched his son call Trowa
'Daddy'. He tried to calm himself down despite seeing red. He
ignored Trowa as the man bumped into him. He drew a deep,
shaking breath then headed over to his family. "Michelle..." he
cleared his throat as he came up beside her.
Ami looked at Heero, confused. Other than the bandages on her
head, she looked as she did when he left her. There was no
deadened look in her eyes, there was no lack of emotion in her
fer face. "What...what happened?" she asked weakly, sitting up
slightly.
Michelle didn't hesitate when she realized it was Duo beside her
and Citty and Dj certainly didn't wait either. They both ran and
jumped at him, hugging his legs. Michelle, with Luka in her arms
practically knocked what balance he may have left almost
completely out of him. She met his lips with her's passionately
and Luka laid over on him, immediately grabbing his hair and
sticking it in his mouth as he usually did.
Heero paused and rubbed her hand. "You had surgery." he
muttered, kissing the top of her hand gently.
Duo accepted her kiss, returning it deeply as the kids clung to
him. After a moment he pulled away and looked at his wife.
"Hey..." he muttered. He was still hurting over the fact that
she'd just disappeared, maintained contact with Heero, and had
shown up with Trowa...whom his son called 'Daddy'.
"Surgery? What for?" she sighed weakly, since she'd been given
morphine for the pain, she didn't remember her tests.
Michelle pulled back and could feel the tension he was putting
off at her. She bowed her head and without another word she
headed out of the spaceport stopping at the door so he could
lead them to his car.
Heero accepted this and decided just to tell her. "They found a
tumor...it was altering your behavior, probably part of your
memory." He stood. "You're fine now though, they got it out and
you should be out of here within the next couple days."
Duo silently led his family to his car and put the kids in as
well as the bags. He then paused before getting in himself.
"Michelle I...I love you, and I'm sorry for hurting you." he
whispered so that the children wouldn't hear.
"A-a tumor?" Ami stammered, eyes widening. She was
shell-shocked. It affected her behavior as well, then that meant
that she didn't really have feelings for Quatre. The tumor had
caused her to impulsively sleep with the Arabian man.
Michelle followed him to the car, and looked at him as he spoke.
She looked down and then back up to him, a slight smile curling
the corner of her mouth. "Love you too..." she murmured then got
in the car.
Heero sighed and sat back down, not knowing why he got up in the
first place. "What do you remember before the surgery?" he
asked, wringing his hands around hers.
Duo looked at her then silently got in the car and started it
up. The drive home seemed longer than normal, due to the
uncomfortable silence that accompanied the adults while the
children chattered in back amongst themselves.
Ami frowned and tried to think, enjoying the fact that her
husband was holding her hand. "I remember you leaving...and
being upset again. After that it all gets fuzzy..." She grimaced
and closed her eyes as a faint headache throbbed in her temples.
Michelle was leaned over on her side, her elbow on the door
frame, with the window down and her head rested on her arm.
Heero stared at her briefly. 'Great, if she is pregnant, I get
to explain how it's not mine...' he thought to himself. 'That
means I'll have to call him to explain...' He closed his eyes
tight and sat back in the chair, dropping his head back. "Are
you alright?" he asked, rubbing her thigh now.
He hated this. The fact that she'd cheated on him, gotten
pregnant with another man's child...and that he'd cheated on
her. But he never got Hilde pregnant; he was too smart for that.
Her leaving so suddenly was his fault, he knew that. And all the
while, she'd had contact with Heero. And after spending the
night at the space port to try and catch Michelle for a
hopefully happy reunion, he'd seen his son calling Trowa 'daddy'
as the Latin man and Duo's wife deboarded.
"Yes..." Ami murmured softly, relaxing back against her bed. "My
head just hurts a little."
Michelle leaned back in her seat and looked back at the kids
talking amongst themselves and playing and then took a glimpse
at Duo to see what he might have been feeling. She then quickly
looked forward out the window and kept watching the houses go
by.
Heero laid his head on her lap and looked up at her. "We'll get
you home soon okay?"

Duo immediately took a turn onto the interstate, which was the
opposite way of their house. His hands gripped the steering
wheel tightly.
Ami nodded with a tired smile and played with Heero's hair
gently. "Okay..." she murmured.
Michelle looked around slightly misunderstood. "Duo? Where are
we going?" she asked, sure he was taking them home.
Heero started to fall asleep on his lap, running his hand up and
down her leg.
"We're gonna go to an amusement park..." he mumbled.
Ami too fell asleep. A few hours later, the doctor was gently
nudging Heero awake without disturbing Ami.
Michelle looked at Duo and then back at the kids who hadn't
heard what was just said. "Duo...really?" she asked, knowing the
kids would like it, but it wouldn't be a time for them to be
able to talk all of this through.
Heero jumped a bit, looking up at him. "Hn?"
"Yeah...figure it'd be fun..." he said, grinning. He cracked his
window and let the wind caress his face.
"We're ready to move your wife into a room," he said quietly as
not to wake the woman.
She sighed. "Alright..." she put on a smile for him and then
turned her head back and leaned against the door again.
Heero nodded and grabbed their things and was soon following the
staff to Ami's new room while she slept.
"You don't think its a good idea," he sighed as she leaned back
against the rest.
Soon, they were settled in and the doctor was talking to Heero.
"Has she awoken at all?" he was checking her vitals and
medications at this point.
"It's fine Duo, I just thought you would want to talk about what
just happened." she told him, hinting to the fact that she was
practically ready to take him right there in the spaceport and
all he could do was push her away. "Just go, we'll have time to
talk later..." she murmured.
"Yeah, she was awake for a little bit. But she doesn't remember
anything that's gone on since...well...I left..." he sighed,
bowing his head and running his hands through his hair.
"I'd really rather not talk about right now," he said
matter-of-factly. "I want to spend a day with my family without
any troubles or cares, and we can talk about whatever tomorrow."
"You said that was about a month ago?" the doctor looked at him,
now finished with his quick check up on Ami.
Michelle grumbled under her breath and continued to stare out
the window.
Heero nodded. "Yeah..." he sighed, stroking her arm as she lay
asleep.
Duo's grip tightened on the steering wheel as his wife grumbled
under her breath. He decided to ignore her attitude for the
moment, and headed straight for the amusement park.
"Well, when she wakes again, please call for me and I'll come in
and do a pretty standard memory test. Luckily, this won't be a
permanent side effect." The doctor gave Heero a reassuring
smile.
Michelle sighed and closed her eyes. She didn't want this ride
to be this way. But she was a little upset at her homecoming
greeting. She was really happy to see him and it seemed all he
wanted was to be upset with her. She leaned her head forward and
ran her fingers over the bridge of her nose and rubbed her eyes.
Heero nodded and sat back in his chair, turning the television
on to watch something to keep him awake.
Soon enough, the amusement park was coming into sight for even
the kids to see. A smile ghosted Duo's lips and for the first
time in awhile, he felt calm and reassured.
The doctor left and Ami opened an eye tiredly. "I hate
doctors..." she mumbled, reaching for Heero's hand. Heero
wouldn't really be surprised that she feigned sleep; for her
first three births she wouldn't allow any of the doctors near
her, only her husband.
Michelle had opened her eyes when Citty, from the back, shouted,
"PARK!!" She looked around and then looked at Duo. Some part of
her hated being upset with him. She sighed, and reached her hand
across, placing it on his thigh.
Heero sighed. "How did I not know..." he grumbled. "Well you
need them to come back in here and check you over. Just this
once Ami. You just under went a serious surgery. So just do it."
he spoke, getting up and calling the nurses station to send her
doctor back in.

"Yeah Citty, park." Duo chuckled softly as he took his wife's
hand and held it tightly, rubbing his thumb against the back of
her hand.
Ami winced and slowly nodded, "O-okay.." she pouted. "Who's
watching the kids?"
Michelle didn't smile or look at Duo. She just sat there with
her hand on his lap.
Heero hung up the phone. "Duo, I called him last night when I
had to bring you here so that way I wouldn't have to worry about
Quatre being there." he twitched.
As he parked, Duo pulled away from Michelle's hand and unbuckled
himself. He got out and pulled Citty and DJ out of the car,
letting her get Luka. "You guys ready for fun?" he grinned down
at his daughter and son.
Ami nodded and sighed lightly. "Heero...you seem quieter than
normal," she murmured. "Did I do something wrong?"
Michelle sighed and pulled Luka from the car. He was usually
always so good about not singling Luka out, but this one really
hit home for her. She could tell how upset he really was about
this whole thing now, and having spoken with him by accident on
the phone the day before didn't help any. She lifted Luka onto
her hip and walked to the gates with Duo and the kids. Luka laid
his head down on her shoulder as she walked and started to doze
off.
Heero looked at Ami and sighed. "It's nothing right now. Don't
worry. We will talk more later when you're out of here." He
rubbed her hand with his fingers and gave her an almost
invisible smile.
Duo paid for them all to get in, and rented a stroller as well
for Luka. He lifted the boy out of his mother's arms and
carefully strapped him in as Citty and Dj gaped at all the rides
and games.
Ami felt a little scared as Heero spoke and she nodded slowly.
"Okay..."
Michelle felt as though she'd been really low about this whole
situation. After all, Duo was the one who was upset. He was
trying to be a good man and Michelle started feeling terrible as
though he'd done something wrong. As they walked, Michelle
inched closer to him, and then reached for his hand.
Heero went back to watching television and leaned back in his
chair, his arm still outstretched grasping Ami's hand warmly.
The day flew by for the Maxwell family. Duo dumped money into
the games for the kids, they went on every ride the children
wanted, and he even managed to win Michelle a ridiculously large
teddy bear.
Ami spent the day alternating between sleeping and awake. Her
husband stayed at her side except to go get food more suitable
for his wife (rather than hospital food). He had received word
from her doctor that they'd be released in the morning.
After some time, Michelle and the kids sat down to get something
to eat. Michelle curled up on the bench next to Duo, snacking on
some french fries with the kids across from her eating their
burgers and shakes. Luka was sucking down the last of his shake
before even touching anything else.
"Ami..." Heero murmured as he walked in with some chinese take
out. "Your doctor said you'll be released in the morning." He
set her food on the bed table along with her drink. He was
beginning to wonder how the kids were, since he'd left them
there with Duo all night and day.
Duo was seated leaning against Luka slightly, his arm around the
boy. "Careful, you don't want to get brain freeze." He chuckled,
glancing up at Michelle with a smile.
"That's good..." she smiled tiredly, sitting up to eat. She
opened the take-out box, smelling the fried rice and sesame
chicken that also came along with a side of sushi, egg rolls,
and crab rangoon. "Have you checked on the kids?" Ami asked
lightly, as if she'd read his mind.
Michelle smiled slightly, and squeezed his thigh where she'd put
her hand. Something inside was boiling up inside and she began
to realize how much she had missed him and wanted nothing more
than to be so much closer with him than she was.
"I was just thinking about that." he spoke, walking over and
sitting down next to her with his food. He went to pull out his
cell phone and cursed, realizing he didn't have it. He grumbled
and picked up the hospital phone and dialed Duo's number.
Duo wiped the kids' faces off and gave them wet-naps to wipe
their hands off with. He got up and threw away all their trash,
just smiling. He blinked as his phone went off then picked it up
and answered. "Hello?"
Michelle watched him and sighed feeling as though all she were
doing didn't even phase him. She looked down at his phone when
it went off and then watched as he answered it.
"Duo...it's Heero." he grumbled. "How're the kids?" he asked, a
bit gruff.
"Kids? Oh! Well, Michelle called....so I had Quatre go over to
keep an eye on them. I'm sure they're fine," he said, rubbing
the back of his head. Michelle was driving him insane, there was
nothing more he wanted to do than to take her in the public
restroom...but this was mostly about their kids and having fun.
Their fun time could happen once they got home.
Heero groaned on the other end of the phone. "Bye Duo..." he
grumbled, hanging up. "Quatre's with them..." he spoke, his eye
twitching slightly wanting to kill the Arabian boy.
Michelle turned away from Duo on the phone and watched a nearby
ride.
Duo hung up, perplexed as to why Heero sounded so pissed. The
sun was beginning to set at this time, and he checked his watch
then looked at Michelle. "Ready to go or should we stay longer?"
he asked her slowly.
"Oh..." Ami noticed his eye twitching but decided against asking
him about it.

Michelle looked back at Duo and smiled. "We can go if you're
ready." she spoke, only thinking that once they got home, they
might actually be able to talk. Something she'd been holding her
tongue against doing all day.
Heero yawned and stretched out in his chair. He looked at the
clock reading how late it was and groaned, now he wanted to be
home more than anything to get that bastard out of his house.
"All right, come on kids." he announced, picking a sleepy Citty
up in his arms. "Time to go home."
Ami was falling asleep now.
Michelle picked Luka up and took Dj's hand as they started to
walk out of the park to the car. She put Dj and Luka in their
seats and buckled Luka into his carseat. She got in the front
seat and pulled the shoulder belt over and waited for Duo.
Duo got in up, buckled up, and started the car. This time as
they headed home, he took his time and even stopped a few times
so he and Michelle could get out and stretched.
Michelle stood against the hood of the car on one stop and
sighed, running her fingers over the ridges of the hood. She
looked up at the stars overhead and tilted her head back with a
smile.
Duo had gone inside to get a couple drinks and came out, tossing
her her soda without shaking it up. A specialty of his. He
popped open his vitamin water and took a big gulp.
Michelle looked back down just in time to catch it. She smiled
slightly and set her drink on the hood. She just wasn't thirsty
yet and she figured she'd hold on to it for the ride home.
Duo sighed deeply and ran a hand through his bangs, enjoying the
cool night air against his skin.
"Duo...?" she murmured, turning her head toward him.
"Yeah Micki?..." he slowly turned to look at her.
She moved closer to him and looked at the ground. "I'm sorry..."
she murmured quietly.
Duo fell silent for a few moments then sighed heavily. "I'm
sorry too...I just...I wanted you to be sure..." he mumbled.
Michelle looked back toward their surroundings. "I'm still not
sure...but I'm here." She put a small smile on her face and
looked back at him, reaching out for his hand.
There was an obvious air of hesitation as Duo slowly took her
hand in his. He closed his eyes tightly and let himself relax.
She pulled herself into him and wrapped her arm, tearfully
around his waist and snuggled tight against him. "But even being
so unsure, I know that I can't live without you. No one can even
come close to comparing to what you have given me..." She closed
her eyes tight as her tears started to fall, having missed him
this close to her so much.

Duo held Micki tightly, burying his face in her hair. "I love
you..." he whispered hoarsely.
"I l-love you too..." she responded, trying to hold back more
tears that came. She held him a bit tighter now and looked up at
him. "D-do we still have to go through with all of this."
"I don't want to..." Duo whispered tearfully, holding her as he
started to tremble. "I want us to be like we were before---when
all we had was our family and we were happy."
"That's still all we have..." she whispered. Moving her hand to
the side of his face and caressing his cheek. She leaned up and
kissed him softly.
Duo leaned closer as she kissed him, and returned the kiss ten
fold.
Michelle moved her hand over his stumpy arm and wrapped both
arms around his neck. Her fingers ran through his hair and
slightly pulled as she deepened the kiss.
Duo felt a familiar tingling beginning in his groin and pulled
away quickly with a gasp. "O-okay we need to get home..." he
growled softly.
Michelle grinned mischievously and jumped back in the car,
grabbing her soda on the hood as she did. She waited for him to
start driving and replaced her hand upon his thigh.
Duo quickly took off, speeding slightly as they headed home.
Upon arriving, he carried the boys upstairs to their room and
tucked them into bed after putting them in their pajamas. He
then went to his bedroom and stripped, crawling into bed and
placing the sheet just barely and strategically across his
crotch.
Michelle chuckled softly to herself and once home, she got Citty
out of the car and took her to her room. She walked back out and
grabbed her luggage and brought them in, seeing as her clothes
were all packed in it. She pulls them into the bathroom and digs
to the bottom pulling out some scantily clad lingerie. She
slipped into them and sauntered teasingly into the bed room,
posing at the doorway.
She could immediately see the tent that formed where Duo's legs
met. ~Time Skip~
Michelle lay sprawled on her side of the bed, sweat pouring from
her pores. She huffed heavily and grinned. She couldn't believe
that she'd ever let any of this happen, knowing that Duo was
always the best at what he did. She turned her head and grinned
at him. "Duo...I love you..." she whispered hoarsely.
Duo rolled over her slightly and kissed her again, pulling her
against him. She could tell he wasn't done. "I love you too..."
he groaned into her ear, nibbling on it. "Round two..."
~nother time skip!~
She stared down from on top of him and grinned. She ran her hand
over his bare chest and touched his chest as she put her fingers
through his hair. She leaned down and kissed him passionately.
"God I love you!" Duo sighed loudly as she kissed him, he pulled
her down and held her close.

Michelle tucked her face into his neck and held on to him
tightly. She began to cry, thinking of everything she'd put them
both through. "I love you so much..." she whispered hoarsely,
and sniffled back her tears.
Duo held her tightly as he heard the tears in her voice. "I love
you too Micki..." he whispered, rubbing her back.
She held him even more tightly now and whispered. "I promise
you...n-nothing happened while I was gone..." She trembled in
his arms, her tears coming more quickly now. "Please forgive
me..." She couldn't keep any of this inside anymore. She truly
felt terrible for all she had put Duo through, and hated the
idea that they almost ended their long relationship.
"Its okay..." he whispered, his voice growing thicker now as his
own tears started. "I-i forgive you Micki.." he choked back a
sob and held onto her desperately.
Michelle lifted herself away from him and moved to the side of
the bed, not even minding she'd had no clothing on. "I felt so
numb...and you know how I hate for you to see me cry. I didn't
know what to do. The only thing I could have done was left.
B-but then you'd come home, and we'd be at each other's throats.
And I'd have ended up leaving anyway. Where was I to go? I can't
stay with Ami, and that would have put me with my brother...o-or
T-trowa..." She buried her face in her hands and sobbed loudly,
her body shivering.
"Michelle...I-i'm sorry..." he mumbled, sliding to her and
placing his hands on the her shoulders. He rubbed them gently,
trying to calm her. "I was lost without you...all I did was eat,
sleep, and work out..."
She was so caught up in everything that had gone on, she hadn't
even noticed his build. She lowered her hands and sniffled hard.
She tried to calm down and once she had finally managed to, she
turned to him and hugged him tightly. "I want to start over...as
much as we can..." she whimpered, hopeful he'd agree.
Duo smiled as tears shone in his eyes. "I'd like that..." he
whispered.
She smiled slightly and pulled back to look him in the eyes for
nearly the first time since she'd been back. "We could renew our
vows..." she whispered, moving her hand to run her fingers
through his hair.
He smiled gently and nodded, then pulled back against him and
laid down. He hummed softly to her and rubbed her back, closing
his eyes to sleep,.
Heero awoke the next morning to the final nurse coming in with
Ami's release forms. He sighed heavily and yawned, standing from
his chair and walking over. She handed them to him and he
started looking them over, reading some of the meds she would
need to be put on for any discomfort or other side affects.
Michelle had rolled out of bed rather early and headed for the
shower, she was determined that instead of sitting and crying
about everything, she wanted to be able to sit down with Duo,
non-intimately and discuss what had happened. All feelings let
out, no holds barred. She felt they both deserved that much,
knowing that at some point in time they'd both wronged each
other.
Ami started to stir as she heard the nurse come in, and looked
up at Heero sleepily. "Am I going home now?" she yawned.
Duo slept like the dead, curled up and snoring softly.
Heero smiled at her lightly and nodded. "Yeah...very very soon."
he spoke and continued looking through the papers.
After a while, Michelle stepped out of the shower and dressed
then headed for the living room where she sat on the couch and
turned on the stereo, tuning it to a classical channel. She
picked up a magazine nearby and started sorting through it to
see if there was anything good to read til Duo got up.
Ami smiled softly and sat up, going to run her fingers through
her hair. She paused though when her fingers made contact with
the gauze bandages. She looked a little sad as she placed her
hands back in her lap.
Duo awoke sometime later and stretched with a deep rumbling
sigh. He climbed out of bed and went to take a quick shower,
wondering where his wife was.
Heero put the papers down and rolled the cart into Ami's lap.
"You okay to read through these?" he asked, putting a pen down
on the table in front of her.
Michelle heard Duo's movement in the other part of the house and
grinned, thinking about how nice it was to actually be home
again. But quickly she put that thought aside and focused on
what she was going to say to him when he came out and she knew
it was a good time to talk.

"I don't really feel like it...just tell me what's what," she
looked up at her husband and smiled softly.
Duo took his time in the shower then the same while he dressed.
He started making his way downstairs now to find Michelle.
Heero sighed and handed her the pen still, then sat next to her
and lifted the papers. "This one basically says crap about you
being in the hospital, for whatever reason...." he flipped to
the next one. "...this one says you'll go home with a bunch of
meds, for memory loss, pain, inflammation, sleeping
problems...yatta yatta, and this one..." he flipped to the last
page. "...says there's a number if you have problems, that
you're being released on this date and that stupid guy is your
doctor if you have any questions. It also says we will receive a
copy of your lovely bill in the mail within 12-28 days..." He
put the papers down and pointed at a line. "Sign there..." he
told her and stood back up.
Michelle hummed to a mozart piece playing on the station and
flipped through the end of her magazine as Duo came to find her.
Ami took the pen and scribbled her name down as he requested.
"Okie, I'm done."
"Hey Michelle." Duo came and sat beside her.
Heero picked up the paperwork. "I'll be right back then..." he
told her, stuffing the pen in his pocket and walking out the
doors with the papers. About five minutes later he returned and
started gathering all of her things together. He put her clothes
on the bed next to her. "You get dressed and ready and I'll get
everything together and get you a chair to go downstairs with."
He was extremely worried about getting home. He hated that
Quatre had been stuck with his kids for the last day and a half,
filling their minds with god only knows what.
Michelle smiled at him and tossed her magazine down and turned
on the couch. She reached out for his hand and pulled him down
to her, leaning in and kissing him lightly. "Sleep well?" she
asked, quietly, a look in her eyes telling him she'd rather have
their talk.
Ami nodded and started to get dressed slowly.
"Yeah." he sighed, and leaned back.
Heero got everything together and then left to get her a chair.
He came back threw her bag on the back of the chair and then
proceeded to help her down into it when she was ready.
Michelle smiled and patted his hand with her other one. "Can we
talk?" she asked, blurting out the question.
Ami settled into the chair and sighed; she was still tired from
the procedure but ready to go home. "Do you like my new hair
cut?" she asked her husband with a chuckle.
"I don't want to...but I know we need to," Duo mumbled in
response.
"I still wish you hadn't done it..." he grumbled, wheeling her
out of the room now and heading towards the elevator.
Michelle nodded. "I know, I really don't want to either, but I
think we both have things we need to get off our chest and this
is the only way it will work out." she told him, placing both
her hands upon his lap.
Ami wrinkled her nose at him. "I meant the fact that they buzzed
my head..." she said with a cute whine.
Duo nodded silently, wanting to hear her first before he said
anything.
Heero groaned. "It will all grow back. You're pretty anyway." He
watched the elevator lights as the doors came open and he
wheeled her inside.
Michelle took a deep breath and looked him straight in the eyes.
"I love you dearly. And I've come to a decision..." She looked
down for a moment then back up at him. "We have put far too much
into our last few years, there's just no way I think I could
ever just up and leave that. Our children need both of us. Luka
needs Trowa as well, so I think what I will do, is keep up with
his visitations. But I won't text him anymore and I'll only
deliver Luka to him with you with me. Right now, you are the
only thing that will keep me from veering away." She reached out
and took his hand between hers. "I can promise you that I will
do my best to keep myself from feeling anything for him. And I'm
sorry that I put us both through everything."
"Don't groan at me...grumpy." Ami teased him quietly, reaching
back and laying her hand over his.
Duo listened to every thing and sighed heavily. "All right..."
he murmured quietly. He really didn't know what to say. He'd not
once contacted Hilde since he broke it off with her, and he
tried not to let the fact that Luka was Trowa's bother him. It
was hard. He wanted them to work out, but deep down, he secretly
wished that the man were dead. Or that she'd chosen him. He was
a mess. Before he found out she was coming back, he started
going back to his therapist.
The elevator reached the bottom and Heero rolled her out to the
doors. He took her hand in his and squeezed it gently. "Are you
alright here while I go get the car?" he asked, looking her
straight in the eyes, a rare thing for him to do much of.
Michelle responded rather hard to his words. To her it was like
every thing that just took place in the past 24 hours, didn't
mean anything to him anymore. Suddenly, her eyes filled with
tears and she released his hand and turned outward on the couch,
placing her face in her hands. Again trying to hide her crying
from him.
Ami looked at him softly and nodded. "I'll be fine," she assured
him, kissing his wrist lightly.
"Michelle..." Duo sighed and scooted over, pulling her into him.
"I'm sorry. I just...I'm wary about this. I don't want you to
choose me and then resent me." He leaned his forehead against
her shoulder. He was always nervous about things like this, even
when they were teenagers. "I love you. I'm happy with your
decision. And I'll do all I can to keep you happy."
Heero grinned slightly and walked off, heading to go get the
car. He sighed as he found it and got in, starting it up and
heading back to the front doors to get Ami. He got out and
walked over, grabbing her things and loading them in the back
seat.
Michelle curled into him and sheltered her face against his
chest. "I would never resent you Duo..." she murmured. "You've
been the only one I've ever wanted to be with. All the things
that happened with Trowa...th-they all happened because I was
afraid that if I lost you, I'd have no where else to go.
Everything that happened with you and Hilde, and then all these
jobs you went on." She buried her face some more in his chest.
Duo said nothing, holding Michelle to him tightly. He stared at
the wall, a dozen thoughts running through his head.
Ami stood shakily to try and get into the car by herself.

Michelle sighed heavily and turned her head against his chest.
"Duo?" she whimpered, hoping for some kind of response from him.
Heero closed the door to the back seat and looked over. His eyes
widened and he quickly rushed beside her, not touching her, but
only staying rather close in case she fell. He knew how she
hated not being able to do things on her own.
"Yeah?" his voice was a whisper, he closed his eyes and pressed
his cheek to her hair, smelling the scent of her favorite
shampoo.
Suddenly, Ami reached out and grabbed his arm. She
pain-stakingly took the small, shaky steps to the car and began
to lower herself onto the seat.
"You aren't saying anything..." she murmured, rubbing his belly
with the hand she'd rested there.
Heero caught her and put his other hand on her waist, carefully
but barely helping her in. Only being there if she needed him.
"I honestly don't know what to say..." it felt like his throat
had closed up, he couldn't find words to be said.
With a shaky sigh of relief, Ami seated herself and leaned back
against the headrest.
Heero shut her door carefully and walked around to the driver
side. He opened his door and slid in the car. He looked over at
Ami and then put the car in gear and started their way home. He
was rather quiet, just trying to replay, and understand the
events of the last few days.
"Say something..." Michelle pleaded quietly, raising her head to
look him in the eye.
Ami closed her eyes as Heero started the car and began to drive.
The low hum of the engine was starting to lull her to sleep. "I
love you..." she murmured drowsily, her head starting to slowly
drift to her shoulder.
"I love you Michelle." Duo whispered, so quietly had they not
been in complete silence she would have missed it. "And I know
you're right.. I've been seeing a therapist.. and I'd like you
to come with me... I-I think it'd be good for the both of us..."
He looked her in the eyes, hoping she would agree.
Heero reached his hand over and took her hand in his. "I love
you too Ami..." he mumbled, turning onto the highway home.
"What kind of a therapist?" she asked, concerned as to why he
was seeing one in the first place. "I'll go with you if you
really think some other person on the outside can help us."
Duo sighed heavily, running a hand through his thick bangs. "A
psychiatrist... for everything that's happened, starting with
stuff from when we were teens and going through the war..." he
mumbled, cheeks turning red. He felt like he was showing
weakness; going to a 'shrink' for help. "It's been helping me
deal with things, and learn techniques to get through others..."
The war...it had taken a huge toll on their lives. Ever since
they were teens, and had been together, and even before that,
there was been this war. Like a never ending war. She smiled up
at him a little and raised her hand to his cheek. "If you want
me to go, I'll go. I'll do anything to make us right again. To
take back everything I have ever done to hurt you would
definitely be better. But since I can't do that, then whatever
else you think will help, I'm right there beside you to do it."
She grinned and raised herself up, wrapping her other arm around
his shoulder and pressing her head in against his neck. "I never
wanted us to end up this way..." she whispered and sighed
heavily, tightening her embrace on him.
Duo closed his eyes and held her tight, inhaling the natural
perfume of her hair and skin. "Thank you," he murmured against
her. "I really think this will help us and our family. And we
can stop hurting each other." He pressed a kiss to her temple
softly.
