He let out an awkward chuckle on the other end and sighed. "Let
me know if you need anything..." he told her. "I have a place in
the colonies too."

"I don't think it would be appropriate for me to do that," she
replied quietly.

"Its just a place to stay, Aims. I won't be living there. I'm
stationed here on Earth and I don't have clearance to even go to
the colonies." He laughed a little on the phone. "I assume J
probably has something set up for you then."

"No Quatre, I meant... I don't think it's good for me to talk to
you," her voice was sad and regretful.

There was silence for a moment and then Quatre sighed. "You're
right...at least until this is all over. It's safer that way.
Y-you...take care okay?" he spoke, a bit hurt but trying to hide
it. "I love you..." he whispered, before hanging up.

Her heart stung a little. She cared for him deeply, and knowing
she hurt him made her feel awful.

Quatre sat at his desk at home and stared at his phone. He kept
wondering why he had never made his move when he had the chance
back when Ami started piloting with them. She would never have
ended up in this position.

Duo sat at the bar, staring at the scotch on the rocks in his
hand. He took a drink; his head already buzzed pleasantly. He
couldn't seem to get over the fact that Heero had known all
along where Michelle was... or that Trowa had gone up there. He
was beyond anger and hurt at this point. He was numb. He finally
understood what 01 was like all the time. He shook his head and
down the rest of it, gasping at the end. What would he do now?
He glanced at the TV. More news coverage of Relena's death and
Heero's arrest.
"About damn time..." he mumbled. That woman had made Heero's
life and Ami's even more so, a living hell. The fact that Yuy
had even done things with her made Duo cringe. He never thought
Heero would have betrayed Ami like that. He still remember when
Heero came to him and they went to the bar. It was there over
the next several hours, Heero had confessed to Duo the depths of
the affair. How he actually did have feelings for Relena,
despite being married, and how she had lost the baby. Duo had
never seen Heero that broken. He was almost in disbelief. He
sighed again and fumbled for a cigarette. He'd picked up the
habit after Michelle had bolted on him. He lit it and took a
deep drag, the smoke filling his lungs with a sweet burning
relief. "Damnit... how did this all go so wrong?"

Michelle waited around the house until Ami got there. She helped
her get the kids into the car and pack their bags into the
trunk. She wished her luck and hugged her tightly, then told her
that everything would be okay. She really hoped she was right.
She was afraid for her friend now and really wished things
hadn't turned out like they had between them lately.
When she got in her car, she started to think about Duo. She
started to wonder if things would get so bad between them that
Duo would resort to some kind of bad action as Ami did with
Relena. She chewed on her lip as she dialed his number and put
the phone to her ear. Suddenly, it was as if her world had
changed orbit, and it now revolved around the true love she knew
she still had with Duo. She waited, hoping he'd answer.

Duo stopped as he heard his phone go off with Michelle's
ringtone, and took a moment to calm down before answering it.
"Hey," he said huskily.
