"Get mad then Ami...that's fine." He grumbled, and looked at the
countertop in from of him. "There are things that I need to keep
safe, and by letting you admit guilt, I am not keeping you
safe." He shook his head. "So it's fine if you're mad, but I'd
rather you be mad at me for taking the fall on this, than being
mad because I didn't defend you."

Ami shook her head and stared at her hands blankly. "I
thought..." her voice trailed off. "We're falling apart Heero."

He sat forward even further and put his hand on the glass. He
wasn't sure how to say what he wanted. He needed to try though.
"Ami...I don't care what either of us have done...I mean...I do,
but the point is, I'm still in love with you, more today than I
was when we met. We get tired and bored of one another, we
venture to find something new. But no matter, I love you beyond
words. I want nothing to do with us falling apart, or losing
you."

His thumb stroked the glass, from his angle it was like he was
touching her lips. He wished so badly to be able to reach
through and touch her skin, and feel her arms around his
shoulders. He nodded and pulled away slowly. "Good. When you get
there, send word through someone down here. I don't want anyone
knowing where to find you. I'll keep you updated...or rather,
I'm sure it'll be on the news...this was Relena after all...I'll
be acquitted soon. And we'll be together again..."

He mouthed "I love you Ami Yuy." behind the glass as he hung up
the phone and quickly stepped away. He was starting to cry, and
he didn't want her to see it.

Ami took a deep breath and hung up the phone then started out.
She fished out the burn phone Dr. J had given her in such an
event and dialed his number.
