She grunted. "Psht...when isn't he about to do something
stupid..." she grumbled. "The man cheats on his wife and thinks
he can get away with it with lies and murdering her. I hope the
MP find him..." She knew she was crossing somewhat of a line
speaking to Duo about Heero this way. They'd been close for a
long time, but Ami was her BEST FRIEND, and it was a closer
relationship than he and Heero had.
It was getting late by the time Heero got home, and he knew this
would be his last night in this house, either for a long time,
or ever. He sighed as he slipped in the front door and quietly
entered the empty living room where he dropped onto the couch
and closed his eyes.

Duo stayed silent as she Micki griped then let go of her and
stood. Not out of anything other than wanting a drink though.
After coming back with a bottle of water, he looked at his wife.
"We're not perfect Michelle," he said quietly. "Heero does the
best he can, being himself. Ami cheated too. More than he did,
and in their own home. Not to mention, Relena is... rather was,
extremely manipulative of Heero. She had what he did a long time
coming." he paused now, almost hesitantly, then shook his head.
"I don't trash Ami for what she did, so don't trash Heero."

Ami was walking in the door, arms full of children, sleeping at
that. Normally she'd have no problem, but with all the emotional
exhaust, she felt weak. She also needed to contact her lawyer at
some point...

She knew he was right, and they all had their faults, she with
Gokou, he with Hilde at one point, Ami and Vegeta. This sort of
thing was definitely a pot and kettle sitch. She sighed and
dropped her head back. "I'm sorry Duo..." she mumbled. She knew
things were already falling apart for them as it were, and this
was definitely not going to help.

Heero was sound asleep on the couch, and if it weren't for his
face being buried in the couch, he'd be snoring away his dreams.

He threw back his water bottle then placed the empty container
on the end table, going back and hugging her tightly.
"I never want to go through what they're going through," he
mumbled, thinking how awful it must be to be separated. He and
Michelle never really officially separated, they were never
apart for long either. Just the thought of it churned his
stomach, leaving him wondering what Heero felt like at that
moment.

Ami juggled the children all the way up the stairs and into
their rooms. After tucking them in, she headed into Heero's
office and flipped through his rolodex until she came to their
lawyer. Punching in the numbers on the office line, she waited
for a pick-up; even though it was pretty late in the evening,
2200, the lawyer always picked up for them.

She hugged him back just as tightly. "I promised you after what
we'd been through that I'd never let that happen again." She
buried her face against his collarbone. "You're an idiot
sometimes, but I still love you. No matter what happens." She
held onto him, wishing this didn't have to end, knowing he was
leaving tomorrow.

Heero started writhing on the couch. Panic setting in, his eye
lids twitching and his feet starting to intermittently kick at
the arm of the couch. He grunted and groaned as he slept.

"I love you too Michelle," he held her tighter and closed her
eyes, breathing in the scent of her hair.

"Good... it'll be delivered tomorrow morning, first thing? Thank
you. Bye." Ami hung up with the lawyer, a satisfied look on her
face, and headed downstairs to get a drink. She was serving
Vegeta with papers to sign over his rights to Lorelei. He never
saw her unless he came over which was almost never, because
there was no way in hell he'd let Bulma find out about the
daughter he had with Ami. So rightfully so, she saw no reason
for Vegeta to have rights.
"Ugh..." she groaned tiredly, reaching the bottom of the stairs.
She paused, noticing Heero writhing whilst still asleep. She
knelt beside him and started to murmur to him gently. "Heero,
it's okay..."

Michelle smiled as she pulled away and looked up at him. "Lets
get married again." she told him, pulling at the end of his
braid as she took his hair tie out and started unravelling his
hair.

Heero was in a cold sweat by now. Tears falling from his eyes
and his head twitching as his eye lids shuttered now. He heard
Ami's voice, but the image in his head was showing him something
worse. He let out a deep sob and the shot up quickly from the
couch, gasping awake. He looked at her, panicked and then with
one quick movement, he reached out for her and crushed her
against his chest, burying his face in her hair. He wasn't even
really sure he was crying or not, it'd been so many years since
he'd felt such an emotion.

Duo looked at her surprised, but smiled as he held her hips,
there were the beginnings of lines at the corners of his eyes.
"Okay," he murmured before leaning down and kissing her.

Ami gasped as he shot up and clutched her with a fierceness, he
took her breath away. She carefully held him back, closing her
eyes as she felt him tremble against her.
"It's okay," she whispered. "I'm okay. I'm right here."

Michelle kissed him back and smiled. "When you come back, I'll
have it all set up." She winked and kissed him again.

Heero said nothing, just held her in his arms tightly. He pulled
her into his lap as he sat up on the couch and sat straight
back. He put his lips to her ear and whispered gently. "I love
you Ami Yuy..." His tears still trying to escape as he told her.
