Trunks grumbled low as Ami came to take Lori. He put on a smile
for her as she waved goodbye to him and he waved back.
Heero sat in the living room, beer bottles around him, a bottle
of painkillers for the nights he'd gotten severe headaches from
drinking so much. He had just awoken on the couch in a cold
sweat and without thinking about anything, he picked up his cell
phone and dialed Ami's cell phone number, sitting on his end and
listening to the voicemail pick up. "Ami...it's Heero...I need
you to come home...we need to talk..." he spoke in his drunken
stupor.

"Hn...goodbye Trunks. I hope you're happier now," Ami murmured,
walking out with Lori. The toddler stuck her thumb in her mouth
as they left and took flight. She then headed to Goku's and
walked in. Her brother looked up, shocked. "Ami! Where've you
been?! I--" Ami held up her hand, cutting off her brother. "Will
you build us a house here?" she asked, keeping the pain out of
her voice. Goku blinked then nodded as Lori wriggled out of her
mother's arms and ran to her uncle. "Thank you...I'm going to go
get some things from the old house..." She said tiredly then
left. Little did Heero know, Ami was on her way to their house
at that moment.

Heero sighed as he hung up the phone after leaving his message.
He tossed his phone on the coffee table and turned the
television to a Lifetime Movie.

Ami touched down on her front lawn, feeling utterly defeated and
on the brink of turning lesbian. She walked in, shutting the
door, and started to head upstairs when she froze. "H...Heero?"
she whispered, feeling her heart pound in her ears. She thought
he was dead, and hear he was...sitting on the couch,
watching....Lifetime?

Heero didn't look up from the television but heard Ami as she
walked in and froze. He closed his eyes and put his hands at his
sides, balling them up, but not in anger, only sadness. He was
trying to control his emotions, only because if he were to
celebrate her return, he knew she would only return with her
hatred towards him. He was not ready to deal with that. So he
only sad looking completely emotionless.

Ami bolted across the room and jumped over the couch, throwing
her arms around Heero as she began sobbing hysterically. "I-i
thought you were dead!" she cried.

"What?" he murmured. "Why would you ever think that?" He didn't
wrap his arms around her, still not wishing to raise his hopes
to believe this was real for longer than a few moments.

"The news...the report said th-there were no survivors...and
when I came to get Junior he said you never came home," she
sniffled, still holding onto him. The relief that he was
actually alive, it out-weighed her grief and anger over the fact
he'd lied.

He sighed heavily and finally wrapped his arms around her,
pulling her to him tightly. "Other than a broken leg...I'm
fine..." he grumbled slightly. "How is Junior anyway?" he asked.

pulling her head away and looking up at him. "Heero...I-i just
have one question." Closing her eyes tightly, she took a deep
breath before looking him in the eyes. "Was the baby yours?..."
